Mr. Jones was a native of Clay and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 19, in the Buck Edmonds Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Rev. W. E. Busby and Rev. Bill Moore conducted the services. Burial was in the Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Jones of Jonesboro; two sons, Sam Jones of Eros and Donnie Jones of Charleston, South Carolina; Two daughters, Mrs. Joann Shores of Columbus, MS, and Mrs. Jo Jones of Monroe; two brothers, Robert Jones of Belton, Texas and Samuel Jones of Broadus, Texas; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mike Jones, Dennis Jones, James Ray, Donnie Jones, Johnny Lee McMillan and Robert Ray. Additional Comments: James Edcar Jones was first married to Leacie Lucille Gray. He was the son of James M. Jones and Ophelia Cantrell.
