Ponder, age 79, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday night, February 27, in the Jackson Parish Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Friday, March 1, in the Buck Edmonds Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. Rev. Lowell Reichardt and Rev. Bill Fuller conducted the services. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery near Quitman under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Survivors include her husband, Claude H. Ponder of Jonesboro; one son, John H. Ponder of Jonesboro; one daughter , Mrs. Cenie Dry of Prarieville, La.; Four sisters, Mrs. Ollie Gray of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Emily Clark of Dallas, Mrs. Mazie Walker of Quitman and Mrs. Bama Edmiston of Clay; Two brothers, Norman Nazworth of Orange, Texas and Henry Nazworth of Durant, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers were Mike Ponder, Johnny Ponder, Don Atkins, Jerry Maxwell, David Walker and Mike Smith.
