Alfred Paul Ricks Brownstown, TX
   Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 11,
1997 at New Prospect Baptist Church for Alfred Paul Ricks, 71, of
Brownstown, TX. Bro. Bill Driggers and Bro. Buddy Mills officiated.
Burial was in the Wright's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of
Latimer Funeral Home. Mr. Ricks was born December 8, 1925 at
Jonesboro, the son of the late Alfred A and Lillian Rasberry Ricks.
He died Sunday, November 9, 1997 at his home. A World War II Army
veteran, he retired after 37 years as a storekeepper with American
Petro Fina in Port Arthur, Tx.  He was a member of Friendship
Baptist Church at Groves, TX, and he attended New Prospect Baptist
Church.  He was also a member of the Broaddus Texas Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B (Terry) Ricks of Brownstown,
TX; three sons, Jerry R Gabbard of Huntsville, Tx, Edward G Gabbard
of Brownstown and Robert A Ricks of Georgetown, TX; two daughters
Jan Coon of Diana, TX, and Elizabeth Melendez of Shreveport; a
sister, Mary Barton of Monroe; seven grandchildren, 10 great
grandchildren and a number of nephews and neices. Memorials may be
sent to New Prospect Baptist Church (Address deleted)
