Sheppard, age 75, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, May 5, 1983, at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in the Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Revs. Tom Long, Danny Stevenson, and Ken Phillips officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. A native of Jonesboro, Mr. Sheppard was a retired paper mill pipe fitter operator. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nola Sheppard of Jonesboro; one son, James Thomas Sheppard of Sarepta; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Palmer of Arcadia, Calif.; one step-daughter, Pat Kent of Winnfield; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Pete Harvey, Buddy Stevenson, Artie Carson, O. D. Bridges, Kenneth Sones, and Elmer Terry.
