Brother S. J. Shows of Jonesboro La.,
passed from this earth with its sorrow on May 9th, 1926, at the ripe
age of 75 years, 3 months and 9 days, to a land of Heavenly bliss.
Brother Shows was one of the original members to organize old Hebron
church of Jackson Parish Association. He later moved to Jonesboro
where he was ever a faithful member of this church. The pastor had
the privilege of attending the Golden Wedding of Bro.Shows and wife
some two years since. There were present at the time over fifty
children, grandchildren and other descendants to bless this couple
of dear old people. Brother Shows was always a Missionary Baptist
and lived his best in missions. He was one of the first members to
help with substancial offerings on the New Baptist church. This
offering was made in real sacrifice. The pastor counted him as one
of the very best members of the church. He besides having several
other children which hold prominent places in their respective
communities is the father of Brother J. Shows who has served
Jonesboro Baptist Sunday School over 25 years as Superintendent. May
God bless the family from the wife to every child.
