All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Reburial rites for Technical Sergeant Jack Sims whose death occurred in a Japanese prison camp on June 17, 1942, will be held at old Siloam church, two and one-half miles east of Wyatt on Sunday afternoon, February 5, at two o'clock. The remains will arrive in Jonesboro on Friday, February 3. Full military rites will be conducted and interment will be under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.Sergeant Sims, youngest son of Mr. And Mrs. L. Page Sims, of Jonesboro, enlisted for service on November 1, 1941, at Barksdale Field in Shreveport. He was shipped overseas almost immediately and participated in several major battles against the Japanese. He was captured in the fall of Corregidor and lived through the "Death March" inflicted on prisoners of war, but his death is reported to have occurred just one month and 10 days after the march.
