Thrift, age 83, of Monroe, LA, will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 6, 1999 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel - Lamy Lane with Dr. John Traylor and Rev. Walter Mangham Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Twin Cities Memorial Gardens, West Monroe, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home; Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA.Mr. Thrift died Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe.Mr. Thrift was a retired salesman having worked at Sears, Wards, Genevas, The Fair Dept. Store and Executive Business Products. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Monroe where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Thrift was a member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge #24 F. & A. M. and the Louise L. McGuire Chapter #4 Order of the Eastern Star.Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Claudia Thrift of Monroe; daughter: Shirley Pesnell and her husband Kenny of Choudrant; son:Ronnie "Butch" Thrift and wife Cynthia of Monroe; two sisters- Inda Ola Gaines of Hodge, LA, and Eleanor Staggs and husband Dick of Shreveport; five grandchildren: Rhonda Crawford and husband Andy of Monroe, Michael Nolan and fiancee Staci Jowers of Ruston, Christy Anders and husband Mark of Van Buren, AR, Mark Thrift and wife Jan of Alexandria and Stacey Rushing and friend Jake Banks of Choudrant; five great grandchildren: Chelsea, Miranda, Danielle, Madeline and Taylor; and family friend: Glenda Nolan Elford of Downsville.Pallbearers will be Mike Nolan, Andy Crawford, Mark Anders, Mark Thrift, Wayne Barnhill and Bert Collier.Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
