1985 Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Sallie Wafer Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Riser Wafer, age 95, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 1985 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Chris Andrews officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Wafer died at her residence in Shreveport following a lengthy illness. She was a member of a pioneer Lincoln Parish family and had resided in Jonesboro for a number of years where her husband, the late George W. Wafer, Sr. was a well known hardware salesman. Before making her home in Shreveport she resided in Ruston where she was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Wafer was the mother of the late George W. Wafer, Jr. and is survived by his sons, George Wafer Turner and William Wafer Turner of Dallas. Also surviving is a daughter Miss Sara Wafer of Shreveport and a son, James Wafer also of Shreveport. Her other grandchildren are Corry Wafer of Shreveport, Allison Wafer Stewart of Monroe, and a great grand daughter, Rachel Turner of Dallas, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Goree of Hayensville. Pallbearers were George Turner, Bill Turner, Bob Turner, Haskell McClinton, Corry Wafer, and Charles Stewart.
