Grambling were married near Vernon, Jackson Parish, LA Feb. 8, 1865. Mrs. Bonner was born in Rapides Parish LA March 30, 1843. When she was 3 years old her parents moved from there to Jackson Parish. Her father's family was well known throughout Northeast LA. where a number of her relatives still reside. John H. Bonner was born at Benton, Yazoo County, Miss., Feb 12, 1842. He moved with his parents to Rusk, Cherokee County, Texas December 1849, and from there to Bonner's Ferry on the Neches River in 1852. He enlisted in the Confederate Army May 23, 1861 and was honorably discharged from the service May 23, 1865 having just served four years. He was elected Mayor of Tyler for four consecutive terms, the first term commencing April 1903. Mr and Mrs. Bonner have four children, Mrs. C.W. Boon, Tyler; John A. Bonner Glenwood Ark,; Tom R. Bonner Corsicana, and Mrs. Mary E. Sheppard, Crockett. Mr. Bonner has been a constant reader of the Galveston-Dallas News since 1854 and says it is without exception the best newspaper in the country. --------------------------
