Schroeder, founder and chairman of the board of WJS Enterprises Inc., a copying machines dealer, died Thursday of a stroke at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Schroeder was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 38 years. He graduated from Jesuit High School, where he was class president in 1937, and Tulane University. Before founding his own company, he was an agency manager for the Marchant Calculator Co. in New Orleans and other cities. When Marchant merged with other companies to form SCM Corp., he became its regional manager. He won the President's Award of the Kyakuman Kai Sharp Corp. from 1983 through 1985 and Canon USA's Dealer Award from 1986 through 1988. Mr. Schroeder was a former chairman of the Dealer Advisory Council of the Apeco Corp., a former director of First National Bank of Covington and a former president and board member of the Greater New Orleans Executive Association. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau of New Orleans and the National Association of Cost Accountants. He was a board member of the Whitney Cecile Civic Organization, a member of the krewes of Atlas and Caesar, and a former president of Sigma Pi Alumni Association. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Quigley Schroeder; three daughters, Susan Schroeder Hosch, Peggy Schroeder Noble and Sandra Schroeder Larche; a sister, Joyce Schroeder Graham; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery. Times Picayune 11-22-1997
