SCHMIDT
Dayton A. Schmidt, a retired chief engineer in diesel repair, died 
Saturday (July 27, 2002) at his home.  He was 77.  Mr. Schmidt was
born in Fredericksburg, Texas, and lived in Metairie for the past 
45 years.  He retired from Oil Transport Co. Inc. and was a consultant 
for Jefferson Diesel.  Survivors include four sons, Wayne, Dayton L., 
Randy and Eugene Schmidt; a stepson, Irving Massicot; a stepdaughter, 
Judy Massicot; and two sisters, Eugenia Peterman and Marilyn Ottmers. 
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral 
Home, 1717 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie.  Visitation will begin 
at 9 a.m.  Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
