Part of McDonoghville and all of Mechanickham are now part of Gretna. The "Town of Brooklyn" is now part of Gretna but there were other west bank areas called Brooklyn without "town" mentioned. Catherine's succession (#468 on LDS roll 04025853934884) says the names are Schurb and Burghast. It also states LeBlanc wanted his slave, Jenny, and her two children, Arestile LeBlanc and Bruno LeBlanc, set free as soon as possible. He also wanted Jesse to receive "all my household furniture & other property." Jesse Fulton has no further mention. Simon Cannon declares the estate heirs are: Elize's brother, Andre, of Iberville Parish; Isidore LeBlanc, a nephew in St. James Parish; and a list of minors. It is not clear exactly how the minors were related to LeBlanc. Heirs who were minors: Sedonia Letzes, a grand-niece; Marine Melancon, a niece; Elodie, Louis, Elizabeth, and Cecile Rouiller of St. James Parish. Cannon sells the slave, Celeste, her child, and all the furniture to "pay debts owed." Henry also had a half-sister. Elizabeth's father was Moses Foy. Both buried in Union Cemetery. Two lots in Mechanicham, each 50' x 125' deep facing Copernic (now Huey P. Long), bounded by Second, Third and Newton. Value $1800.
