GRAPES (1908-1976) was a pioneer in the booming oil industry located around Jennings. At the time of his death, he had been a resident of Lafayette for 24 years, retiring in 1974 as President of Gradome Drilling Company. In addition to helping establish Jeff Davis Bank, he was active in the formation of the Jennings Little Theatre. He was a charter member, past president, and served on the board of directors of the prestigious Petroleum Club of Lafayette and was one of the original founders of LAGCOE, an annual oil company show in Lafayette.
