Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Iowa. Visitation is from 8 a.m. Mr. Edwards died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, in a Lake Charles hospital. A native of Rapides Parish, he lived in Fenton for 48 years. He retired as police chief of Fenton after 24 years of service, was a member of the Chief of Police Association and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired iron worker and member of Local 678. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he was an elder. Survivors include three sons, Shelton E. Edwards of Iowa, Elton M. Edwards of Houston and Johnny E. Cobert of Vidor, Texas; two daughters, Dorothy Primeaux of Fenton and Judy F. Clement of Pine Island; one brother, Dewey Edwards of Oakdale; one sister, Audrey Granger of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. FLETCHER, Louis B. LCAP 1/20/1998 Lake Arthur -- Funeral services for Louis B. "Sonny" Fletcher, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 20, in First Methodist Church. The Rev. Glynn Foreman will officiate. Mr. Fletcher died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in a Mamou hospital. A lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, he was a graduate of Lake Arthur High School. He served as a welding instructor at Elton High School for 10 years and retired from the Jefferson Davis Vocational Technical School in Jennings. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Lake Arthur Lodge 346 F. & A.M., a Shriner and a member of the Habibi Temple. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hymel Fletcher; one son, Louis Bryant Fletcher Jr. of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Bridget) Carroll of Eunice; one brother, Howard Emery Fletcher of Lake Arthur; and three grandchildren. A native of Hathaway, she lived most of her life in the Welsh area. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She worked at Welsh General Hospital as a housekeeper supervisor for five years. Survivors include her husband, Ray Folkland; four daughters, Jean Benson of Houston, Madeline Phelps of Fredericksburg, Va., Lola Ray Green of Bedford, Va. and Shelia Brown of Fayetteville, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Jennings United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Ruth Wesley Bible class.
