Her body was cremated under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Mrs. Isely died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, in her residence. ISTRE, Herman J. LCAP 7/17/1999 JENNINGS -- Funeral services for Herman Joseph Istre, 68, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Revs. Oris Broussard and Nicky Trahan will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Visitation is 9:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with rosaries at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.; and from 8 a.m. Monday. Mr. Istre died at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 1999, in Jennings. He was a lifelong resident of Jennings. He was a second lieutenant in the Army. He worked for CUNA Mutual Insurance Society for 18 1/2 years. He was a notary public. He was a charter member and president of South Jennings Catholic Federal Credit Union. He was a third degree knight of Knights of Columbus Council 9110 where he served as the grand knight and financial secretary. He was awarded the Knight of the Year. His family was Family of the Year for Council 9110 and also for the diocese of Lake Charles. He was a fourth degree knight of Msgr. Peters Assembly and was a knight for the Council of St. Gregory of the Lake Charles diocese where he received the honors convocation for the Knights of St. Gregory the Great. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 45 years where he was a religious instructor, choir director, parish council member, parish finance council and parish trustee. Survivors include his wife, Bernice McNeal Istre; four daughters, Mrs. David (Angel) Sneed and Mrs. Michael (Dawn) Richard, both of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Ted (Tina) Reaux of Indian Bayou and Mrs. Gene (April) Simon Sr. of Evangeline; one brother, Iry Istre of Jennings; one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Carrie) Blanchard of Jennings; and nine grandchildren. JAMES, Adlina Jack, Mrs. -- 5/10/1999 ELTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Adlina Jack James, 86, were at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 9, in her residence. Bishop Lovis Simpson officiated. Burial was under direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel of Kinder. Visitation was at 11:30 a.m Sunday at the Lake Charles funeral chapel. She died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Oakdale hospital. A native of Opelousas, she lived in Elton most of her life. She was a member of the Holiness Unto the Lord Church and was the mother of the church.
