A native of Huffman, Texas, he lived in Humble, Texas, and was a resident of Welsh since 1955. He was employed by Sun Oil Co. until 1950. He retired at the age of 58 after 40 years of service to the oil industry. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Welsh. He was past patron of the Order of Eastern Star chapter and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Welsh and the Scottish Rite of Lake Charles. He was a member of Goodwill Lodge No. 57, and of the Jane Ward Federal Credit Union. He was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church where he was a member of the Sunday school department. She worked as an accountant at Cities Service in Lake Charles 1946-49. She served as secretary of the Louisiana Teachers Retirement System 1950-51 and was business manager for Brewer Studios in Lake Charles 1951-78. She was co-owner of Ravet Estate in Bell City, Trahan Farm in Lake Arthur and Trahan Estate in Fenton. She was co-owner of Trahan Insurance Agency in Welsh 1964-72. She was active in the Lake Charles Messiah Chorus and sang in the Immaculate Conception choir 1946-52. She served on various committees for the Lake Charles Community Concerts, the Art Association of Lake Charles and the Lake Charles Symphony Auxiliary. She worked as a volunteer librarian at Landry Memorial High School and was active in the St. Patrick Hospital Auxiliary, the Governor's Program for Gifted Children and the McNeese State University Foundation Scholarship Committee. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral and served in various capacities for the Diocese of Lake Charles, including secretary and receptionist and on the decorating and scouting committees. She served on the National Catholic Committee on Scouting, was a member-at-large of the Calcasieu Area Council of Boy Scouts and was named to the diocese Scouting Roll of Honor in 1982. She was a dame grand cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a dame of grace in the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem and a dame of merit in the Sacred Military Constantinian of St. George. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, the American and Lake Charles Rose Societies, the Lake Charles Garden Club, Les Estudientes Book Club, the Pioneer Club and the Serra Club. LCAP 3/2/1999 BATON ROUGE -- Funeral services for Aileen Broussard Trouard, 80, will be at 11 a.m. today, March 2, in Welsh Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Akin will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. today. Mrs. Trouard died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, in a Baton Rouge care center. A native of Lake Arthur, she lived in Baton Rouge. She was a member of Ingleside Methodist Church and the Women's Church Circle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tommy (Nancy) Russell of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Jerry (Shirley) Hendrick of Mandeville and Betty Jean Baker of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. Jewell A. Boutte of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. TUPPER, Bertha C.,Mrs. LCAP 2/4/1999 JENNINGS -- Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Bertha Compton Tupper, 91, of Welsh, will be announced by Miguez Funeral Home. She died at 5 a.m. Wednesday in a Welsh care center. TYLER, Minnie F., Mrs. LCAP 6/3/1999 Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Fullington Tyler, 94, will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Lueg will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Tyler died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, in a local care facility. A native of Fenton, she was a Lake Area resident for most of her life. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School. She worked as an insurance clerk for Tom Clarke Insurance Agency. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Joe Tyler Jr. of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. Edgar (Betty) Rosteet of Sulphur and Ann Tyler of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
