LCAP 3/2/1999 LACASSINE -- Graveside services for Lester Clifton Yocham, 85, will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 4, in St. John Cemetery under direction of David Funeral Home of Broussard. Brother Leon Farley will officiate. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday and 8-10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Yocham died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, March 1, 1999, in a Lafayette hospital. A native of Oakland, Ark., he was a Louisiana resident since 1947. He was a retired oilfield superintendent for Delta Drilling company, having worked there for 40 years. Survivors include his wife, Louella Smith; two sons, Raymond Dale Yocham of Lafayette and Jerry Wayne Yocham of Houston; two brothers, William J. Yocham, and Paul B. Yocham, both of Sapulpa, Okla.; one sister, Geraldine Stone of Colorado City, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. YOUNG, Esther LCAP 8/17/1999 ELTON -- Funeral services for Esther Young, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 17, from St. Paul Catholic Church. The Revs. Marshall Boulet and Mister John Eaves will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home. Mrs. Young died at 9:06 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, in her residence. She was a native of Elton. Survivors include her husband, Holton Young; two sons, Charles B. and John R. Young of Oakdale; one daughter, Betty L. Callahan of Pineville; three brothers; Allie Langley of Basile, Lawrence Langley of Elton and Leston Langley of Oberlin; three sisters, Ella Duplichan and Pearl LaFleur, both of Oberlin, and Thilda Manuel of Basile; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. YOUNG, Winnie J. LCAP 3/7/1999 ELTON -- Funeral services for Winnie J. Young, 82, will be at 2 p.m. today, March 7, from St. Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Marshall Boulet will officiate. Burial will be in New St. Paul Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the funeral home. A rosary was recited Saturday evening. Mr. Young died at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, in his residence. He was a native of Basile and had lived in Elton since 1937. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Mississippi. He fought on the islands of Makin, Marshall and Gilbert and on the Pelelieu Islands. He also fought at Iwo Jima and Layte and in the second battle of the Philippines. He was a member of VFW Post 3686 and of American Legion Post 318. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was awarded the Bishop's Medal for Devoted Service by the Diocese of Lake Charles. Survivors include one son, Timothy Young of Elton; three daughters, Mrs. Henry (Veronica) Chaumont Sr. of Sugartown, Mrs. Harlen (Elizabeth "Mitt") Judice of Vinton and Mrs. Larry (Theresa) Lyons of Lake Arthur; one sister, Helen Goodwin of Jennings; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
