PATTERSON, Pola N. LCAP 1/8/2000 FONTANA, Calif. -- Funeral services for Pola Negri Noah Patterson, 64, were held Friday, Jan. 7, in Temple Baptist Church. Burial was in Riverside National Cemetery under the direction of Palmes Chapel Mortuary. Mrs. Patterson died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000. She was a native of Jennings. She was a valedictorian graduate of Boston High School and was the homecoming queen for the class of 1953. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and earned liberal arts and library science degrees from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1969 and earned the rank of major. She worked as a bibliographer before becoming a member of the library faculty at California State University at San Bernardino in 1979. She was a member of the Black Faculty and Staff Association at CSU-SB, the California Black Faculty and Staff Association, the California Faculty Association and the American Library Association. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and a charter member of the San Bernardino Pi Zeta Zeta Alumni chapter. She was of the Baha'i faith and was a former organist with New Sunlight Baptist Church. Survivors include one sister, Cinde Noah Hale of Glendale, Ariz.; one half sister, Alma Grace Noah Feist; one half brother, Ivory Noah of Beaumont, Texas; and her mother, Calvin Ballard Scott of Lake Charles. She graduated from Jennings High School and was a retired telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Teague. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Guillory of Oxford, Ga.; two sons, Jeff Perry of Jennings and Robert E. A native of Binghamton, N.Y., he had lived in the Iowa area for many years. He was of the Catholic faith. He was employed as a truck driver for many years. Survivors include his wife, Janet Trahan Pultz of Iowa; one son, Brandon Gary Pultz of Lake Charles; one daughter, Ashley Pultz of Iowa; three brothers, Harold Pultz Jr. of Binghamton and Richard Edward Pultz and Ronald Charles Pultz, both of Iowa; three sisters, Rosemarie Pultz, Melodi Lynne Kramer and Penny Sue Kramer, all of Iowa; his mother, Frances Pultz of Lake Charles; and two grandchildren.
