She was a native of Hathaway and a resident of Thornwell. She was a human resource director for Moss Regional Hospital. She was a Catholic Daughter of America, a former lay minister and a lector at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a native of Lacassine and a member of the Catholic faith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired farmer and welder. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mrs. Renner died at 4:53 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in a local hospital. A native of Evangeline, she had lived in Jennings for 72 years. She was a graduate of Jennings High School and Chenier Business College in Beaumont, Texas. She was the first secretary for the Jefferson Davis Health Unit and was a former secretary for the Red Cross. She retired as office and traffic manager for radio station KJEF after 28 years of service. She was a member and past patron of Jennings Chapter 9 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of First Baptist Church and its Baptist Young At Heart and sanctuary Sunday school class and was a former pianist and choir member. Survivors include one son, Sam Renner of Jennings; one daughter, Sandy Renner Daigle of Jennings; and one grandchild. He retired from the Department of Agriculture and Forestry after 26 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Janette R. She was a retired registered nurse. She was the founder of the Pink Ladies and Candy Stripers of the Jennings America Legion Hospital. She was a member of the Entre Nous and Revelers clubs. She was a member of First Baptist Church, former teacher of the Young People's Sunday school class and a member of the Adult III Sunday school class. Survivors include her husband, James E. Riley; one son, Dr. William Harlie Bearden of Georgetown, Mass.; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Robin Jean) McClanathan of St. Louis; one sister, Mrs. G.E. She was employed by the Jennings Guest House for many years. She was employed by the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She retired from Hyatt's Big Star Grocery of DeQuincy, where she was a grocery checker for 25 years. Survivors include one daughter, Linda M. Vandergriff of DeQuincy; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to The Mother's Memorial Fund of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, the family said.
