She was a schoolteacher and taught adult education for the Calcasieu Parish School Board until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. She was kindergarten department director for 14 years and served as director of Christian education for several years. She was awarded lifetime membership in the Women of the Church for outstanding service. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn S. Dunn and Dorothy A. He was a native of Roanoke. He received his bachelor's of science degree from the University of Southwest Louisiana. He earned his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. He began his general practice in veterinary medicine in Welsh. He had a private practice 1953-1975. He served on the Board of Medical Examiners 1961-1969. He was a federal veterinarian for the states of Virginia and Arkansas 1973-1991. He served on the board of directors for Welsh General Hospital and the Jennings Federal Savings and Loan Association. He coached many Little League baseball teams. He was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
