Jerry Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 8 a.m. Mr. Caldwell died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a native of Mermentau. He moved from Jennings to Gillis in 1929. He retired from Cities Service in 1973 as a maintenance supervisor and was a cattleman for 56 years. He was a member of Machinist Union Local 161 and the local in Orange, Texas. He was a member of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association. He was a 32nd-degree Mason with Masonic Lodge 165 for more than 50 years. He was a Shriner and was a member of Habibi Temple and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 242. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gillis. Survivors include his wife, Oma Seal Caldwell of Gillis; one son, Robert Caldwell Sr. of Gillis; two daughters, Yvonne Olson of Fayetteville, Ga., and Barbara Baumgarten of Gillis; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Eulas Cantrell — 12/21/2001 ROANOKE — Memorial services for Eulas "Paul" Cantrell, 70, of Welsh, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, in Roanoke Baptist Mission. The body was donated to science. Mr. Capdeville died at 2 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001, in his residence. He was a native of Jennings. He was a graduate of Pueblo Catholic High School in Pueblo, Colo. He received his bachelor's degree from Dillard University in New Orleans in 1953. He received his degrees in medical and x-ray technology from Manhattan Medical School in New York, where he was also a student worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Air Force. He was the former finance officer and post commander of Frank Thibodeaux American Legion Post 520. He was a member of VFW Post 3244. He was a former employee of the Jennings American Legion Hospital, Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, Calif., and Olive View Hospital in Sylmar, Calif. A native of Roanoke, she was a resident of Evangeline and a retired nurse's aide. She worked at Jennings American Legion Hospital. She graduated from Roanoke High School and attended McPherson College in Kansas. She also served as secretary/ treasurer for Roanoke Water Works. At the age of 13, she began taking piano lessons. She wrote music, song lyrics, poetry and short stories. She played piano and organ for many years for both the Catholic church and Church of the Brethren in Roanoke. Upon retirement, she moved to Evangeline, where she continued to write and to play organ for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline and St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee Mamou. She served on the Jeff Davis Arts Council and Friends of the Zigler Museum, and she was president and secretary of Entree Nous.
