He was a native of Coulee Croche and was a longtime resident of Jennings. He was a graduate of Hathaway High School and the LSU Basic Law Enforcement Academy. He was a Coast Guard veteran, and he served in the Korean War. He was a retired deputy sheriff and a retired investigator with the Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney's Office. He trained cutting horses and was a member of the Louisiana Cutting Horse Association. He was inducted into the Cutting Horse Hall of Fame in 1998. He was named Kiwanis Club Lawman of the Year in 1972. He received commendation awards from the American Federation of Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He was a past member of the National District Attorney's Association. He was a Cajun musician, and he founded and led the Cajun Aces band. He was a member of the Cajun Music Association, and he received the group's Pioneer Award. He was inducted into the CFMA Hall of Fame's Eunice and Lake Charles chapters. He was honored by the cities of Jennings and Mamou. He was a master folk artist at Northwestern State Univer-sity. He was a lector and former parish council member at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Burial will be in Green Oaks Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Fulton died Saturday, July 14, 2001, in a local hospital. She was a native of Welsh and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She earned a bachelor's degree in music from H. Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and a master's in music education from Louisiana State University. She taught music in Birmingham, Ala., and in Jeff Davis Parish. She supervised elementary school choruses in East Baton Rouge Parish. She led choral workshops at McNeese State University and LSU. She was active with Phi Mu sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma fraternity. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the church choir. Survivors include one son, William Forrest Fulton Jr. of Stamford, Conn.; one sister, Lenora Armstrong Wheeler of Lake Charles; and three grandchildren.
