Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Mr. Magnuson died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in a Houston hospital. He was a native of Roanoke and had lived in Iowa for 21 years and in Moss Bluff before moving to Hopewell Comm-unity 21 years ago. He retired from PPG, where he worked as an operator for 30 years. He also worked at the Bonanza restaurant in DeRidder and at South Beauregard Water Works as a supervisor. He was a member of the Blue Grass Music Association and had played for several community bands. He was a member of Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church in Dry Creek. Survivors include his wife, Colleen Faye Magnuson of Hopewell Community; one son, Richard James Magnuson of Iowa; two daughters, Melanie M. Herrington of Moss Bluff and Sandra M. Walker of Hopewell Community; one brother, Lewis Magnuson of DeRidder; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Della M. She worked as a legal secretary for the State Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and was an organist for the church for many years. She was a member of the Jeff Davis Arts Council and member of the Entre Nous and Revelers Club. She was a former member of the Jennings Carnegie Public Library and a former columnist for the Jennings Daily News. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Cynthia) Woodel of Shreveport; one son, Dudley Wilson Ellison or Baton Rouge; one stepdaughter, Nancy Marcantel Rougeau of Breaux Bridge; three stepsons, David Marcantel and Gregory Marcantel, both of Jennings, and Peter Marcantel of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. McCutchen died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in Jennings. A native of Comanche, Okla., he moved to Jennings in 1938. He was a graduate of Ninnekah High School in Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater. He worked in the oil industry. In 1945, he founded McCutchen Construction Co. A charter member of the Jennings Lions Club, he served as the third president, was elected District Governor in 1956 and was named Lion of the Year in 1975. In 1956, he proposed a Louisiana Lions camp for blind and handicapped youth, which was chartered in 1957. In 1994, he received the Lions International Foundation's highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellow. He was a former president of the Jeff Davis Holding Corp. He was a charter member of the Jennings Masonic Lodge 249, F&AM, Eastern Star and Habibi Shrine Temple. He was president of the McCutchen Trace and hosted a reunion in 1991. He was president and chairman of the Board of the Dixie Jubilee Horse Show in Baton Rouge. Survivors include one son, Don McCutchen of Liberty, Texas; two daughters, Margo Crosby of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Gaye McCutchen of Metairie; three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. George Patton's 67th Armored Regiment in Europe and North Africa. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and at Omaha Beach. He was a volunteer fireman for 20 years, and he worked for nine mayoral administrations. Survivors include his wife, Gretchen R. Newman of Jennings; three daughters, Sharon Comeaux of Jennings, Shelia "Sue" Newman of Welsh and Shelly "Peppy" LeJeune of Iota; one stepson, Carl Myers of Jennings; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
