Visitation is from 1 p.m. Ms. O'Brien died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in a local hospital. A native of Lacassine, she had lived in El Lago, Texas, for the past 17 years. Mrs. O'Quinn died Monday, July 2, 2001, in a Kingwood, Texas, hospital. She was a native of Woodlawn and had lived in Carlyss since 1950. She was a nurse's aide at West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital from 1966 to 1971. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Visitation is 3:30-9 p.m. today — with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and a rosary at 7:30 p.m. — and from 10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Oustalet died at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in a New Orleans hospital. He was a native of New Orleans. He was a graduate of Holy Cross in New Orleans and Louisiana State University. He was a Navy veteran, and he served in the Pacific in World War II. He began his car-business career in the 1940s as general manager of Capital City Ford of Baton Rouge. He was chairman of the seven-franchise Bubba Oustalet Automotive Group of Jennings and of Bubba Oustalet Ford and Bubba Oustalet Lincoln Mercury, both of Gulfport, Miss. He was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers; National Ford Dealer Council of America and its board; Young Presidents of America; and the Louisiana Consumer Protection Board. He was president of the Ford Dealer Training School; the Louisiana Auto Dealers Association, which named him Outstanding Dealer; and the Ford Advertising Board. He was president of Bubba Oustalet Investment Real Estate of Gulfport; Bubba Oustalet Acadian Real Estate of Jennings; and Bubba Oustalet Farm and Ranch of Gueydan. He was chairman of the G.B. Zigler Co. & Shipyard, the Zigler (Scholarship) Foundation and the Zigler Museum Foundation, all of Jennings. He was a director of the Lincoln-Mercury Dealer Advertising Board, Best Western Hotel in Gulfport, Whitney Bank of Mississippi and American Bank Group of Jennings. He was named a Time Magazine National Quality Dealer in 1976. He received the Distinguished Achievement Award — Ford Motor Co.'s highest honor — and the Special Honor President's Award. He led fund drives for Jennings American Legion Hospital and for a Lake Arthur state recreation park. He received the Melvin Jones Fellowship — the Lions Club International Foundation's highest honor — for helping disabled people. He was president of the LSU Jeff Davis Area Alumni Association, Jennings Association of Commerce and the Zigler Hotel Board. Other honors included Outstanding Citizen of Jennings, Outstanding Young Businessman by Louisiana Junior Chamber of Commerce and Holy Cross Prep School Alumni Man of the Year. He headed the Lake Charles Diocese finance board and was a director of the Biloxi Diocese's finance board. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus; a Knight Commander Holy Sepulcher Jerusalem and Knight of St. Gregory, both papal honors; and the recipient of the Diocese of Lake Charles' Distinguished Service Award. He was a member of the LSU Foundation for 40 years. The school honored him with the Presidents Award, Hall of Distinction, Purple and Gold Alumni Award, Foundation President's Award, Alumni of the Year Award, Cook Alumni Center Wall of Honor, Engineering College Hall of Fame and membership on the College of Engineering's Dean Advisory Committee. He received the first Jennings McComb Award, Jeff Davis Parish's highest civic and humanitarian award. Survivors include his wife, Lena Mae Easley Oustalet of Jennings; seven sons, A.J.M. "Butch" Oustalet III and Fred Z. Oustalet, both of Pass Christian, Miss., Richard C. Oustalet, Ronald R. Oustalet, James B. Oustalet and Joel P. Oustalet, all of Jennings, and Lance R. Mr. Perkins died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, in the local hospital. He was a native of Elton, and he had lived in Jennings for 48 years. He retired as a Jeff Davis Parish School Board employee after 23 years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He organized the church's prison and nursing home ministries. He organized Thanksgiving for Less Fortunate. He was the Sunday school superintendent and the president of the Laymen League. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy F. Perkins of Jennings; three sons, Joseph Perkins of Las Vegas, Carver Perkins of Baton Rouge and Aaron Perkins of Jennings; four daughters, Catherine Perkins of Jennings, Dianna Green of Lake Charles, Betty Mouton of Perris, Calif., and Gwen Bonton of Baton Rouge; one sister, Emily Mangram of Albuquerque, N.M.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and its Come Follow Me group, Ladies Sodality, Flock of Christ group and evangelization team. She was also an Eucharist minister. Mrs. Peterson died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, in her residence. She was a native of Fullerton, and she grew up in Lake Charles. She was a valedictorian at Second Ward High School. She earned bachelor's degrees from Southern University and Oberlin Conservatory and a master's from Case Western Reserve University. And she studied at the University of Chicago, John Carroll University and Cleveland State University. She was a vocal and choral music teacher for 32 years. She taught at Florida Normal College and Cleveland State. She taught at Brownell Junior High School, Central Junior High and John Adams High, all in Cleveland. She was founder and director of the Cleveland All-City Junior High Chorus. She was a clinician and lecturer at the Ohio State Music Convention. She was a member of the Music Educators National Conference; American Choral Directors Association; Jeff Davis Arts Council; Ohio Retired Teachers Association; National Association of Women; and Delta Sigma Theta. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland for 30 years and was the director of the church's senior and mass choirs. She was a member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school music teacher and church music minister. She directed the junior and youth choirs and the men's chorus. She was a member of the Seventh District Missionary Baptist Association and the Louisiana Missionary Baptist State Convention. She was a pianist, teacher and music director for both groups. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Joseph Eugene Peterson of Jennings, and one daughter, Denise Christy of Milwaukee. Kathryn J. Phelps — 1/4/2001 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Kathryn J. He served on the Welsh City Council for 12 years. He was a fourth-degree Knight of Peter Claver. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
