Vail — 12/15/2001 Funeral services for Mary Berken Vail, 41, will be at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 15, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Ronald Groth will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8 a.m. A rosary was recited Friday. Mrs. Vail died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in her residence. She was a native of Jennings, and she had lived in Lake Charles for 24 years. She was a 1978 graduate of Jennings High School and a 1981 graduate of McNeese State University. She was an executive assistant at Fletcher's Wholesale. She was a member of Rice, Cattle and Soybean Production of South Lake Charles. She was a member of the Farm Services Agency committee and the Farm Bureau's women's committee. She was chairman of the Calcasieu Agriculture in the Classroom committee and was a member of the district committee. She was the 1990 Calcasieu Parish Outstanding Farm Woman of the Year. She was a volunteer at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Chapel, the Ladies Altar Society and the chapel pastoral committee. She was the chapel's organist. Survivors include her husband, Mark Vail of Lake Charles; one son, Brandon Vail of Lake Charles; two daughters, Kristie Vail and Allison Vail, both of Lake Charles; one brother, John Berken of Jennings; four sisters, Deborah Clement of Hathaway, Judy Fletcher of Lake Charles, Sharon Cassiere of Metairie and Elaine Berken of Lafayette; her parents, Vincent and Marie Thevis Berken of Roanoke; and grandmother, Veronica Thevis of Branch. Leo Vasseur Jr. — 11/21/2001 Funeral services for Leo Vasseur Jr., 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, in Hixson Funeral Home. The Rev. Rocky East will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Jennings. Visitation is noon-10 p.m. today, 4-10 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. Friday. Mr. Vasseur died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a retired Merchant Marine, and he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Jennings. Survivors include two sons, Terry Wayne Vasseur of Port Arthur, Texas, and Lee Ray Vasseur of Pine Prairie; two stepsons, David Richard and Gerald Robin, both of Lafayette; six daughters, JoAnn Waggoner of Oakdale, Dee Williamson of Amarillo, Texas, Audrey Fontenot of Lafayette, Linda Wells of Bossier City, Jeannie Verret of Westlake and Michelle Toney of Topsy; his companion, Beulah Soileau of Lake Charles; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tony J. Vessel — 9/18/2001 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Tony J. Vessel, 79, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in Miguez Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Vessel died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, in the local hospital. Elder Thomas Lee Victor — 1/25/2001 Funeral services for Elder Thomas Lee ''Slim'' Victor, 85, of 201 Catalina St., will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, in Sharon Chapel Seventh-day Adventist Church. Elders Michael W. Bailey and James Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Me-morial Park Cemetery under direction of Fon-del Memorial Chapel. Visitation is from 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Elder Victor died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, in his residence. A native of Welsh, he had lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He was a member of Sharon Chapel Seventh-day Adventist Church where he was the first church elder. He was assistant to the pastor. He was a member of the Bible study group and the Evangelism Committee. He retired from Davidson Sash and Door Co. after many years of service. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Agnes Edwards Victor of Lake Charles; one daughter, Gloria Guillory of Lake Charles; two stepdaughters, Delorise Bartee and Ruth Bartee, both of Lake Charles; three sons, Harry Lee Victor of Lake Charles and Richard Victor and Eugene Victor Mosley, both of Houston; one stepson, the Rev. Eddie McCoy of Bryan, Texas; five brothers, Joseph Victor and Eugene Victor, both of Lake Charles, Lerard Victor of Los Angeles, Edward ''Buster'' Lambert of Raywood, Texas, and Edmond Victor of Beaumont, Texas; six sisters, Helen Walker and May Louise Leggins, both of Welsh, Thema Mcaine of Marino Valley, Calif., Janie Jones of Ypsilanti, Mich., Eva Battam of Slidell and Olivia Broussard of Beaumont; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Gaylan J. Villnerve — 3/28/2001 JENNINGS — Funeral arrangements for Gaylan J. Villnerve, 57, were by Miguez Funeral Home. The body was cremated. Mr. Villnerve died at 11:58 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2001, in the Jennings hospital. Dorothy Vincent — 10/22/2001 Funeral arrangements for Dorothy Vincent, 90, of Welsh, will be announced by Johnson Funeral Home. She died Sunday in a Welsh care center. Lovina M. Vincent — 7/31/2001 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Lovina Marie Vincent, 78, will be at 10 a.m. today, July 31, in Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shell Beach Cemetery. Mrs. Vincent died at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, in the local hospital. Vernice Vincent Sr. — 6/13/2001 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Vernice Joseph Vincent Sr., 67, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, from St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sensat Cemetery. Mr. Vincent died at 6:45 a.m. June 12, 2001, at the Jennings hospital.
