Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Istre died at 10:07 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in his residence. Sidney Jack — 1/7/2002 OAKDALE — Funeral arrangements for Sidney "Shine" Jack of Elton will be announced by Community Funeral Home. Sidney Jack — 1/11/2002 ELTON — Funeral services for Sidney "Shine" Jack, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in Faith Deliverance Temple. The Rev. Lovis Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Eternal Rest Cemetery in Elton under the direction of Community Funeral Home of Oakdale. Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today in the church. Mr. Jack died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in his residence. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of Ashley Lodge 232, M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge and F&AM of Louisiana. He was an honorary deacon at St. John Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charlie (Debra) Woolridge of Lake Charles; three sons, Sidney Jack Jr. of Elton, Isreal Jack of Opelousas and Harvey Jack of Atlanta; one stepson, Chris Lavan of Elton; one brother, Marshall Jack of Houston; four sisters, Rose Woods of Elton, Isabella Leday of Fenton, Beulah Francois of Iowa, La., and Elrena Guillory of Lake Charles; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lucille E. Jackson — 1/11/2002 WELSH — Funeral services for Lucille Eaglin "Aunt Lucy" Jackson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Jackson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Eastridge Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel of Jennings. A wake will be at 5 p.m. today in the church. Mrs. Jackson died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was born in Opelousas and lived in Welsh most of her life. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Jones and Jeanell Vital, both of Welsh; six sons, Junius Jackson Jr., Jerry Jackson Sr., Marshall Jackson, Eddie Jackson and Jerome Jackson Sr., all of Welsh, and Edward Jackson Sr. of Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Mary Jane Prudhomme of Welsh and Dorothy Mae Cooks of Fenton; two brothers, John Curtis Eaglin and Richard Lee Eaglin, both of Welsh; 48 grandchildren; and 58 great-grandchildren. Cheryl A. Johnson — 9/15/2002 KINDER — Cheryl Ann Johnson, 25, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, in Elton. Survivors include her husband, Levi Johnson of Elton; one son, Isaiah Twin Eagle Johnson of Elton; two brothers, Keith Robinson of Elton and Sandy Robinson of San Jose, Calif.; her parents, Gideon and Glenna Robinson of Elton; and her maternal grandfather, Solomon Battise of Elton. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, in Indian Bible Church of Elton. The Rev. John Cernek will officiate. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery under direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. Visitation is 9 a.m.-10p.m. today in the funeral home in Kinder, with a singing service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume 8-10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home and from 11 a.m. in the church. Albertha C. Jones — 2/13/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Albertha Chartion Jones, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Mount Triumph Baptist Church. The Rev. Joseph Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation is from 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Mrs. Jones died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in the Jen-nings hospital. A native of Washington, La., she lived in Jennings most of her life. She was a longtime member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church, where she served as a steward sister and mission sister, and as a member of the Gospel Choir. Survivors include her husband, Lee Howard Jones Sr.; one daughter, Virginia Stagg of Jennings; one son, Lee Howard Jones Jr. of Jennings; one sister, Viola Jones of Beaumont, Texas; one brother, Wilbert Chartion of Port Arthur, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Jane E. Jones — 4/4/2002 JENNINGS — Jane Ethel "Mom" Jones, 81, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2002, in her residence. She was a native of Mermentau, and she lived most of her life in Jennings. She was a longtime member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Blanch Hazel Hightower of Jennings, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, in Mount Triumph Baptist Church of Jennings. The Rev. Joseph Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Silverwood Cemetery in Mermentau under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel of Jennings. Visitation is from 8 a.m. Friday in the church. Noah Jones Jr. — 1/19/2002 Funeral arrangements for Noah Jones Jr., 49, of Welsh, will be announced by King's Funeral Home. He died Friday in a local hospital. Noah Jones Jr. — 1/26/2002 WELSH — Funeral services for Noah Jones Jr., 49, will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 26, from St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. William D. Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Bon Pasteur Cemetery under the direction of King's Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the church. Mr. Jones died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Welsh. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Janet Zeno Jones of Welsh; two sons, Noah Zeno of Welsh and Titus Jones of Roanoke; three daughters, Nakita Jones Hattley of Kansas City, Mo., Niaja Jones of Welsh and Janel Zeno of Beaumont, Texas; three sisters, Patricia Randolph of Welsh, Peggy Williams of Monroe and Lucy Johnson of Los Angeles; and five grandchildren. Oscar H. Jones — 3/17/2002 Oscar H. Jones, 80, of Lake Arthur, died at 5:35 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002, in his residence. He was a native of Little Chenier and had lived in Lake Arthur for 50 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired boat operator for Superior Oil Co. He was a member of VFW Post 3244 of Lake Arthur. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rose Logray Jones of Lake Arthur; one daughter, Gloria LaPoint of Jennings; one son, John Logray of Moss Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Eugene (Eve) Suire of Lake Arthur; one brother, Louis Jones of Lake Arthur; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Maurice Martineau will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation is 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. R.V. Jordan — 5/28/2002 JENNINGS — R.V. Simon Jordan, 60, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in the Jennings hospital. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, in Miguez Funeral Home. Burial will be in Frey Cemetery in Branch.
