Visitation is 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Monday in the church. Mrs. Keeth died at 3 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was a native of Welsh and had lived in Jennings for 77 years. She was a 1940 graduate of Jennings High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and a bachelor’s in home economics from Louisiana College. She was a cheerleader in high school and college. She was a retired high school teacher. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Ronald “Ron” (Carol) Keeth of Aurora, Ill., and Randal “Randy” (Pam) Keeth of San Antonio; one sister, Lorraine Brown of Beaumont, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Ernest E. Kohnke Jr. — 9/1/2002 Ernest E. “Red” Kohnke Jr., 72, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a native of New Orleans and had lived in Lake Charles since 1957. He graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and was a naval reservist. He worked at the Times Picayune in New Orleans and the Alexandria Daily Town Talk. He had worked at the Lake Charles American Press since 1957 as a photo engraving supervisor, photographer and sportswriter. He was a member of Outdoor Writers of America, Coastal Conservation Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was past president of the Louisiana Tarpon Club and the Southwest Louisiana Fishing Club. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Thompson Kohnke of Lake Charles; one son, Ernest E. “Buddy” Kohnke III of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Tammy Kohnke; one daughter, Lisa Kohnke Ange of Lake Charles; son-in-law, George Ange; and seven grandchildren. He graduated from Lake Arthur High School. He was a truck driver. He was Catholic. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. She had lived in Houston for 30 years. She was an alumna of Southern University and Frank's Beauty School. She owned and operated Vera's Beauty Shop. She worked in Westlake City Hall for 11 years, and she was a bookkeeper for the Cage Club. She helped with Big Brothers-Big Sisters and Bowl for Kids Sake. Mrs. LeLeaux died Saturday, March 2, 2002, in Welsh. She was a native of Lacassine. She was a member of the Welsh Home Demonstration Club and the Welsh Hospital Auxiliary. Leone — 9/25/2002 WESTLAKE — Stephanie Lynn Leone, 35, died at 5:31 am. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital following a battle with cancer. She was a native of Jennings and a resident of Westlake. She was a 1985 graduate of Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff. She was an active member of Gateway Church of God. Survivors include her husband, Lee R. Leone Jr. of Westlake; one son, Derrick Leone of Westlake; three daughters, Kali Sunden and Katelyn Leone, both of Westlake, and Tracy Doucet of Sulphur; her parents, Norman and Ethel Simmons and Bill and Loretta Vancleave, all of Moss Bluff; three brothers, Bubba Simmons, Duke Simmons and Tommy Reevers, all of Lake Charles; five sisters, Nancy Simmons, Sandy Daigle, Brenda Stonner, Kay Manuel and Belinda Reevers, all of Lake Charles; and one grandchild, Kirkland Doucet of Sulphur. Leopold — 5/3/2002 JENNINGS — Minnix Raymond Leopold, 70, died at 10:10 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, in the Jennings hospital. He was born in Silverwood, he had lived in Jennings most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and he was a former police officer for the city of Jennings, serving for two years. Litteral, 94, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Magnolia. She was a native of Branch. She moved from Jennings to Sulphur in 1933 and to Magnolia five years ago. She was involved with the Silver Beacons and was under the watchcare of the Woodlands Place Baptist Church. She was a member of Houston River Baptist Church. She was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Welsh. She was a longtime resident of Sulphur. She owned Lyons Mobile Villa. She was a Calcasieu Parish school bus driver for more than 30 years. She was an active sponsor of 4-H, the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association and Special Olympics.
