Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery in Lacassine. Visitation is from 8:30 a.m. A rosary was recited Sunday. Ms. Oliver died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Welsh. She was a lifelong resident of the Welsh area. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9046 of Louisiana. She was Catholic. Survivors include five sons, Joel K. Oliver and Carl L. Oliver, both of Welsh, Brian D. Oliver of Lake Arthur, Joseph R. "Pet" Oliver of Jennings and Joseph L. "Lil Joe" Oliver of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Tina) Guidry of Jennings; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Zita Ordeneaux — 1/20/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral arrangements for Zita Ordeneaux, 79, will be announced by Matthews and Son. She died at 6:05 p.m Sunday in a Jennings care center. Zita Ordoneaux — 1/21/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral arrangements for Zita Ordoneaux, 80, of Jennings, will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 21, in Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Miss Ordoneaux died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, in a local care center. Mrs. Clarence Osborne — 3/15/2002 Mrs. Clarence (Edolia Manuel) Osborne, 86, died recently in a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital. She was a native of Oberlin, and she moved from Elton to Lake Charles in 1939. She had lived in Fort Worth for a short time. Survivors include one son, Roland Toups Jr. of Port Arthur, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Nichals of Sulphur; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in Hixson Funeral Home. The Rev. Eddie Sermon will officiate. Burial will be in China Cemetery in Elton. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today. Richard J. Ozment SULPHUR — Funeral services for Richard Joseph Ozment, 72, of Lake Charles, were at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Emanuel officiated. Burial was in Big Woods Cemetery. Mr. Ozment died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a native of Schenectady, N.Y. He retired from Citgo Petroleum Corporation after 38 years as a civil engineer. He was a member of the Noonday Lions Club of Lake Charles and of the American Legion in Sulphur. He also served as an elder in the Westminister Presbyte-rian Church of Maplewood. Survivors include his son, Richard J. Ozment, Jr. of Ruston.; two daughters, Rosamond Doty of Lake Charles and Rebecca Trahan of Iowa; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Everette F. Page — 5/1/2002 ROANOKE — Lois Ann Page, 59, died at 5:30 p.m. April 29, 2002, in her residence. She was a native of Hathaway and a resident of Roanoke. Survivors include her husband, D.E. Page of Roanoke; two sons, Tad Page of Prairieville and Eugene Page of Lake Charles; her mother, Mrs. Anna Mae Dupuis of Roanoke; and three grandchildren. Cathy Parrot — 5/2/2002 JENNINGS — Cathy Parrot, 38, died at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in the Jennings hospital. Peacock — 3/1/2002 LAKE ARTHUR — Funeral services for John L. Peacock, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in Miguez Funeral Home. The Rev. David DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Peacock died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in a Tomball, Texas, hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. He retired from Superior Oil Co. as a supervisor after 40 years. He worked three years for Mobil. He was a member of Lake Arthur United Methodist Church and was a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Peacock of Magnolia, Texas; one son, Larry Petitjohn of Lake Arthur; two brothers, David L. Peacock of Kerrville, Texas, and Jimmie Peacock of Magnolia; one sister, Lucille Sanford of Conroe, Texas; and three grandchildren. James A. Pearo — 8/3/2002 James Adam Pearo, 89, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in a local hospital. He was a native of Welsh, and he lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked for Green Acres Nursing Home until he retired. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Elmonia Guillory Pearo, and his secretary, Denise Morehead Gatson. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Pelly — 3/20/2002 Allen Roy Pelly, 72, of Jennings, died at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in the local hospital. He was a native of Mermentau Cove and had lived in Jennings. He retired from Acadiana Bottling of Lafayette. He was a fisherman. Survivors include his wife, Pauline O. Eunice Peloquin — 6/16/2002 FENTON — Eunice Peloquin, 83, died at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was a resident of Fenton. She was a member of the Southwest Louisiana Daylilies Club. Survivors include one son, Durrell Peloquin of Kinder; two daughters, Judy Peloquin of Fenton and Jackie Breaux of Greenville, Miss.; one sister, Beatrice Ardoin of Oberlin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Peloquin — 7/17/2002 JENNINGS — Mrs. Vernice Myers “Pelly” Peloquin, 81, died Monday, July 15, 2002, in her residence. She was a lifelong resident of the Hathaway-Jennings area. She retired from Jennings High School as a cafeteria manager after 23 years. She was a former hostess for Miguez Funeral Home. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. Survivors include one daughter and one son-in-law, Jacquelyne “Jackie” and Mark Holloway of Baton Rouge; one son and one daughter-in-law, Randall “Randy” and Diane Peloquin of Baton Rouge; one sister, Mrs. Elvia Robichaux of Welsh; one brother, Alvin Myers of Bridge City, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Billy C. Pentecost — 7/20/2002 JENNINGS — Billy C. Pentecost, 44, died at 12:40 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Jennings American Legion Hospital. He was a native of Kingsville, Texas, and he moved from Lafayette to Jennings 39 years ago. He was a graduate of Jennings High School, and he attended Louisiana Technical College/Sowela Campus in Lake Charles. He was a lease operator A in the oil industry. He was a member of Cutting Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Martha Hayes Pentecost of Jennings; two daughters, Penelope Pentecost and Annie Hope Pentecost, both of Jennings; two sons, Dustin Charles Pentecost and Kelly Thomas Pentecost, both of Jennings; his parents, Antoine and Gene Valdetero of Jennings; one sister, Linda Henderson of Oklahoma City; and three brothers, Danny Valdetero of Monroe, N.C., Stephen Valdetero of Jennings and John Paul Valdetero of Van Nuys, Calif. She was a native of Jennings and a resident of Lake Arthur. She graduated from Draughan Business School in Beaumont, Texas. She was a retired secretary-treasurer and president of the Jennings Heywood Oil Syndicate. She was a member of the Lake Arthur Woman’s Library Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Willing Workers Sunday school class and the Women’s Missionary Union. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Beverly) O’Reagan of Pineville and Jeanne Broussard of Iota; one sister, Melba Lee Vaughan of Houston; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, in First Baptist Church. The Rev. David Denton will officiate. She was a native of Jennings. She was a 1938 graduate of Jennings High School. She was a 1945 graduate of Baptist Hospital's Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans. She was a registered nurse at Jennings American Legion Hospital, and she was an RN supervisor for 32 years. She was a former president of the Jennings P&BW, and she was a four-year member of the Jennings High band boosters. She was a member of AARP. She was a former 15-year president of the Baptist Young at Heart group. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday school class. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. John (Charlene) Veuleman of Welsh and Martha P. Wood of Boyd, Texas; one son, David C. Pulver of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
