Quilty — 6/5/2002 LAFAYETTE — Rosemarie Clayton Quilty, 79, died at 4:16 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a native of Roanoke and lived in Lake Charles since 1944 before moving to Lafayette two years ago. She was an alumna of Roanoke High School and Sacred Heart College in Grand Coteau. She was an office manager for Dr. Harry Snatic for 40 years. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemarie “Ree” Mere of Lafayette and Sally Pulver Ruel of New Orleans; one son, Roland H. “Bubba” Breaux of Arnaudville; one brother, Howard Franklin Clayton of Angleton, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation is 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 8, in Johnson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held in Graceland Cemetery following the visitation. Effie P. Ratcliff — 5/17/2002 LACASSINE — Effie Peshoff “Sis” Ratcliff, 74, died Wednes-day, May 15, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a native of Cameron, and she had lived in Lacassine for more than 20 years. She was a retired employee of the Cameron sheriff’s tax collection office. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Thelma Hachett Chapter of Cameron. She was a member of Murray Street Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Henry “Hank” Ratcliff of Lacassine; two sons, John Ratcliff of Welsh and the Rev. Gerald Ratcliff of Orange, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Rhonda) Steinmetz of Lafayette; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. The Rev. Alan Weishampel will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today. Louise T. Reddell — 4/28/2002 JENNINGS — Louise Taylor Reddell, 87, died Friday, April 26, 2002, in a Uvalde, Texas, care center. Richert — 8/31/2002 JENNINGS — Lorena Istre Richert, 88, died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, in High Hope Care Center of Sulphur. She was a native of Estherwood. She dedicated her life to her family. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Shirley Richert Jr. of Slidell, Jerry T. and Della Richert of Church Point, and Dr. Albert and Gayand Richert and Dr. Allen and Dale Richert, all of Sulphur; another daughter-in-law, Casey Richert of Jennings; one son-in-law, Amos Ivey of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Sammy (Nola) Valdetero of Crowley; 19 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philogene and Marcelite Istre; her husband, Arthur Richert Sr.; one son, Charles Richert; and one daughter, Barbara Ivey. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 31, from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church of Jennings. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. A native of Estherwood, she lived in Beaumont and Dallas, Texas for a number of years before moving to Jennings 10 years ago. She was a beautician for a number of years. She was a graduate of Grambling State University in elementary education. She was a third-grade teacher for a number of years for the Dallas school system. Survivors include one brother, Welton Hawkins of Jennings. J.W. Robbins — 3/27/2002 J.W. "Jack" Robbins, 82, of Roanoke, Va., died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, in a Roanoke hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Welsh. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society. She was an alumna of Phi Mu sorority from Louisiana State University. She was a CCD teacher. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Mark Romero of Welsh and Robert C.D. Romero of Baton Rouge and wife, Sarah Madison Romero; two daughters, Mrs. John C. (Renee) Watkins of Welsh and Mrs. Jack (Lorraine R.)
