VaSalle — 5/25/2002 WELSH — Jeanne Marie VaSalle, 74, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was a native of Bell City. She lived in the Lake Charles area for about 50 years and had lived in Welsh for about 12 years. She was a musician. She was Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Rene VaSalle of Welsh; two sons, Randall VaSalle of Welsh and Renell VaSalle of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Renee Bailey of Big Lake; two brothers, Herman DeRouen and Julius Derouen, both of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today, May 25, in Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh. The Rev. Herbert May will officiate. Burial will be in Derouen-Loraine Cemetery in Hayes. Visitation is from 8 a.m. A rosary was said Friday. James Vickers Sr. — 2/15/2002 WELSH — Funeral services for James Vickers Sr., 78, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in New Hope Baptist Church. The Rev. Aaron Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the East Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial of Jennings. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church. Mr. Vickers died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in the Jennings hospital. A native of Elton, he lived in Welsh most of his life. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Survivors include seven sons, Melvin L. Vickers, James Vickers, Donald Ray Vickers and Fred Anthony Vickers, all of Kinder, Curley L. Vickers and Riland Vickers, both of Lake Charles, and Gregory Vickers of Basile; four sisters, Essie Vickers of Jennings, Octavia Moore, Della Eaglin and Lola Guillory, all of Welsh; five brothers, Freddie Vickers, Alexander Vickers and Michael Vickers, all of Welsh, Johnny Vickers of Norfolk, Va. and Tommy Vickers of Connecticut; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Louise B. Vidrine — 3/7/2002 WELSH — Funeral services for Louise B. Vidrine will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Mrs. Vidrine died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in a Lake Charles hospital.
