Walker, 79, died at 5 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, in the Welsh hospital. He was a lifelong resident of the Jennings-Hathaway area. He was a graduate of Hathaway High School. He was a retired farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the Jeff Davis Cattlemen’s Association, and he was a member of the Louisiana Rice Growers Association and FFA boards. He was the chamber of commerce’s 1969 farmer of the year. He was a member of the Jeff Davis Waterworks. He was member of Raymond United Methodist Church, and he served on the church board. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Torphy (Barbara) Avant of Lafayette; two sons, Kirk Walker of Welsh and Darrell Walker of Jennings; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, June 5, in Raymond United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tom Beeler will officiate. Burial will be in Raymond Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation is from 10 a.m. in the church. Dorothy Mae Warren — 2/1/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae ''Nanny'' Warren, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Union Baptist Church. The Rev. Gerald W. Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Benevolent Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel of Jennings. A wake will be from 5 p.m. today in the church. Mrs. Warren died at 2:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, in her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Jennings. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Jeff Davis Parish. She attended Southern University and graduated from Grambling State University in elementary education. She was a third grade teacher for more than 30 years. Survivors include one daughter, Valerie Abraham of Jennings; one son, Darren T. Warren Sr. of Tallahasee, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. reat-great-grandchildren. Ruby A. Watkins — 3/19/2002 Ruby Ann Kimball Watkins, 81, of Welsh, died Monday, March 18, 2002, in her residence. She was a lifelong resident of Welsh. She was a 1937 graduate of Welsh High School, and she was class co-valedictorian. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Phil Watkins and Johnny Watkins, both of Welsh, and Dr. Wayne Watkins of Alexandria; three daughters, Nancy W. Johnson and Elizabeth Fruge, both of Welsh, and Margaret Granger of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Laura Mae Doan and Lucille Gordon, both of Welsh; 33 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. The Revs. Whitney Miller and Herbert May will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Watkins-Johnson Christian Leadership Scholarship Fund at Hibernia Bank in Welsh, or to the charity of one's choice, the family said. George A. White — 1/1/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral services for George Augusta ''Papa White'' White, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, in Fondel Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Franklin E. Fondel Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. White died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in a Jennings care center. A native of Grand Coteau, he had lived in Jennings most of his life. He worked for the city of Jennings for a number of years. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include three daughters, Justine Lewis and Velma Rideaux, both of Jennings, and Winnie Wilson of Lake Charles; two sons, Donald White of Jennings and Wayne Celestine of Colorado; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lessie J. Wilcox — 4/25/2002 COVINGTON — Lessie J. Wilcox, 87, died at 11:50 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, in the local hospital. Her funeral was held Wednesday, April 24, in Hixson Funeral Home of DeRidder. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
