Mr. Stroder died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, in the Jennings hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. He was an oil company floor hand. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She was a native of Jennings. She was a 1938 graduate of Jennings High School. She was a 1945 graduate of Baptist Hospital's Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans. She was a registered nurse at Jennings American Legion Hospital, and she was an RN supervisor for 32 years. She was a former president of the Jennings P&BW, and she was a four-year member of the Jennings High band boosters. She was a member of AARP. She was a former 15-year president of the Baptist Young at Heart group. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday school class. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. John (Charlene) Veuleman of Welsh and Martha P. Wood of Boyd, Texas; one son, David C. He was a native of Jennings and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. He worked for National Lead Co.'s Baroid Division for 34 years, and he was area manager of the company's Rocky Mountain division. He worked at Ferguson Hardware for many years. He was a member of the American Petroleum Institute, Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Association, American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and Association of Drilling Contractors. He was a member of the Pioneer Club and the Sons of the American Revolution Oliver Pollack Chapter. He was a baron in the Louisiana Division of the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William E. (Winifred Craig Gorham) Shaddock Jr. of Lake Charles; one son, William Ernest Gorham III of Denver; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He served eight years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and was a member of the VFW. He worked for 25 years in the state tax department in Baton Rouge. He was interim mayor of Lake Arthur from 1989-1990. He was District 5 commander and post quartermaster of VFW Post 9933 in Moss Bluff and post quartermaster of VFW Post 2130 in Lake Charles. He was a member of American Legion Post 179 of Sulphur. He served on the board of directors for the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Jennings. He was a Jefferson Davis Parish deputy sheriff for three years. He worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank for 42 years, during which he moved from the Lake Charles branch to Jennings. He became a bank manager in 1946 and retired as a vice president in 1978. He was a president of the Jennings Association of Commerce. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jennings Golf Club. He was a grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was an outdoorsman and a fisherman. Survivors include one son, Henry M.
