Mr. Peacock died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in a Tomball, Texas, hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. He retired from Superior Oil Co. as a supervisor after 40 years. He worked three years for Mobil. He was a member of Lake Arthur United Methodist Church and was a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Peacock of Magnolia, Texas; one son, Larry Petitjohn of Lake Arthur; two brothers, David L. A Scripture wake service will be at 7 p.m. Mrs. Arceneaux died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in the Jennings hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Jennings. She graduated from Jennings High School as salutatorian. She received the American Legion Award and a scholarship to Louisiana State University. She was a charter member of Alpha Eta Chapter of Phi Mu sorority. She graduated from LSU in 1935. She was Jeff Davis' first elementary music supervisor and helped launch music in the curriculum of the parish schools. She taught in every elementary classroom in the Jeff Davis for two years. She taught private piano lessons. She taught vocal music at Jennings High School. In 1952, she again began teaching vocal music in three Jennings elementary schools. She was an organizer and promoter of the Jennings Music Club. She started the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Jennings, and she was its first presiding officer. In 1966, she became the first full-time librarian at Northside Library. She was a charter member of Alpha Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. She was a trustee of the Jennings Carnegie Library from 1979-1996. She received the Jennings McComb Citizenship Award in 1994. She was the Kiwanis Club Queen the Rotary Anne for the Rotary Club; she furnished music at the weekly meetings for both groups. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America 1468 where she served as grand regent, lecturer, historian and organist. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She served as church organist for 20 years. She received the medal for devoted service and the companion of honor award, both from the Diocese of Lake Charles. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Moore of New York, N.Y. and Mrs. Edward (Florence) McNally of Jennings; one sister, Marie Phillips of Jennings; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Herrington — 3/7/2002 JENNINGS — Funeral services for Louise Ismerie Herrington, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today with a 5:30 p.m. rosary, and from 11 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Herrington died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in a Lafayette hospital. She obtained various educational degrees, including a B.S. in chemistry from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, Texas; a B.S. in geology from the University of Oklahoma; and an M.S. in geochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She worked in the oil industry for Houssiere-Latreille Oil, Baroid, Texaco and Standard Oil of Ohio. She was assistant professor of geology at the University of Houston. She taught earth science and French at Our Lady Help of Christians School and Jennings High School. She served as chairman of the American Heart Association f Jeff Davis Parish for 27 years. She was a volunteer at Zigler Museum, the Nursing Home Support Group, the Grey Ladies and the Jennings Music Club. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings. She was a Eucharistic lay minister and a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. She established a scholarship for seminarians of the Diocese of Lafayette and the Sister Michael Edwards Scholarship at the University of the Incarnate Word. She received the Papal Medal. Survivors include her husband, James T. Herrington of Jennings; one son, Dr. J. Patrick Herrington of Lafayette; one daughter Dawn I. Herrington of Houston; one brother, Robert Houssiere of Seguin, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Michael (Andree Houssiere) Macaluso of Austin, Texas; and two grandsons. She was a member of the Powerhouse Church of God in Christ where she was chairman of the Appreciation Service for the pastor and a choir member. Nash — 3/22/2002 Venice Orvid Nash, 87, of Welsh, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, in a Welsh care center. He was a native of Logansport and had lived in Fenton. He served in the Army's 67th Regiment during World War II. He retired as a switcher from Penzoil in 1976 after 31 years. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was a member of the Woodbury United Church of Christ, where she was a church moderator, treasurer of the missionary department and a member of the choir. She was a member of the Trustee Board and Nickel A Day Club. She was a worthy matron of Amelia Chapter 137. She was treasurer of the 7th District of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a native of Elton and lived in Lake Charles for several years. She moved to Westlake 32 years ago. She graduated from DeQuincy High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Charles Jones Realty and Charles Jones Lumber Company. She was an organizer and member of the Kress Girls. She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. He was a lifelong Jennings resident. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired as a custodian from Jennings High School. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and Mending Hearts Chapter 18. He was an honorary member of the FFA. He served as an usher at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura LeBlanc Miller of Jennings, and his sister, Gladys Hill of Lake Charles.
