(Dorothy Paul) KIRKPATRICK, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. The Rev. Jerry Masters will officiate. The body was cremated. Mrs. KIRKPATRICK died at 8:53 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Dubuis Hospital of Lake Charles. She was a native of New Orleans and a registered nurse. In 1996, she and dear friend Nella Cormier formed the New Hope General Cancer Support Group of Jefferson Davis Parish. She was a resident of Morgan Shores for 18 years, moving there from Baton Rouge. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jennings and the sanctuary Sunday school class. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, E.G. "Kirk" KIRKPATRICK of Morgan Shores; one sister, Peggy Paul of Lake Charles; one brother, Herbert Paul Jr. of Houston; six nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and - nephews; and five great-great-nieces and -nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church in Jennings. Source jeffdavisonline Willma KNIGHT JENNINGS — Willma KNIGHT, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, in her residence. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Iota, under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Visitation is 4:30-9 p.m. today, with rosary at 6:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Thursday. Born July 10, 1920, Willma KNIGHT, formerly known as Sis, Nan and TeTaunt, went to be with the Lord at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. A faithful servant of our Lord, Willma hosted a weekly rosary group in her home and inspired many in their walk of faith. She was a pillar of strength to her parents and brothers and remained the "family anchor" for her many nieces and nephews. Loved and respected by many, the citizens of Jennings even proclaimed April 7, 2003, Willma KNIGHT Day. A native of Iota, Willma KNIGHT moved to Jennings in 1945 and opened her own business, KNIGHT Hardware, where she remained owner/operator for more than 40 years. Through these years she was a leader of women in business, politics and religious organizations. She was a member of Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Survivors include five nephews, William Charles KNIGHT, Jon Terry KNIGHT, and Ray KNIGHT, all of Crowley, and Michael KNIGHT, and Morgan KNIGHT, both of Twin Falls, Ind.; three nieces, Elizabeth Dean of Washington, D.C., Mary Catherine Burt of Rocton, Pa., and Nanette Dodd of Brownsville, Texas; nine great-nephews and nieces; two great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie KNIGHT; five brothers, Clyde, Linas, Ferdie, George and Lester KNIGHT; and her first cousin, Monsignor A. O Sigur. Pallbearers will be Charles KNIGHT, Terry KNIGHT, Ray KNIGHT, Mark Dean, Billy Dodd, and Todd KNIGHT. Honorary pallbearer will be Allen Deville. Source jeffdavisonline Melvin Glenn LaCombe Melvin Glenn LaCombe, 51, died Sept 29, 2004 in Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. A native of Lake Arthur, he was the owner and operator of Coucil's Sales and Service in Smithfield since 1995. His mother, Aline Connor LaCombe, preceded him in death. Full obit in LCAP Sept 30, 2004 Eddie LaFleur Eddie LaFleur, 96, died Aug 30, 2004 in his home. He was a native of Elton and lived in Lake Charles since 1944. Note: Full obit in LCAP Sept 1, 2004, Section A, Pg. 2 Herman LaFleur Herman Lee Lafleur, 59, of Lake Charles died at 10:25 PM in a local hospital. Mr. Lafleur was a native of Elton, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Elton High School. He later graduated from McNeese State University with a Masters Degree in Psychology. He was dedicated to his profession and retired after 29 years of service as a Psychologist with the State of Louisiana and for the past 3 ½ years worked in the Emergency Room at Christus St. Patrick?s Hospital. Mr. Lafleur served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by two daughters, Kelli Guillory and husband, Brian of Lake Charles and Kayla LaFleur of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Madeleine and Andrew Guillory of Lake Charles; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 14, 2004 from our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Ronald Groth will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday will be from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM.
