Mahaffey, 85, died July 3, 2004 George Edward Mallett Born: August 28, 1929 Died: October 17, 2004 Memorialized by: Hixson Welsh George Edward Mallett, 75, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of the Iowa and Lacassine areas. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He was president of the Gravity Drainage Board in Lacassine. He was a retired rice farmer and had worked at Bare Wood Furniture and VF Outlet. He was an avid hunter. Survivors include his wife, Regina Mallett of Lacassine; two daughters, Margaret Bebee and husband, Chris of Lacassine, Belinda Felsenthal and husband, Chris of Alexandria; his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Mallett of Lacassine; one sister, Lola Romero of Lacassine; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Mallett. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2004, in St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The Rev. Albert Borel will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today with a scripture service at 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday. "Johnny" Miller LCAP Dec 28, 2004 & Dec 27, 2004 Mr. A. L. "Johnny" Miller, age 84, died at 2:45 a.m. on December 26, 2004 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was born in St. Martinville, LA, and was a longtime resident of Jennings, LA, and Lake Charles, LA. He graduated from Eunice High School in 1937 and attended S.L.I. (now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.) He was a World War II Air Force Veteran. After service in the military, he was a businessman in the Jennings area for many years. Mr. Miller was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #106. In addition, he was a 4th degree knight and served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #2012, as well as an active member of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Jennings, LA. Since 1974, he has been a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in Lake Charles, where he was commissioned as a Minister of Communion. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gwindola LaCour Miller of Lake Charles and three sons: Artie Miller of Channelview, TX and his wife, Sharla, Zachary Miller of Thibodeaux, LA, and his wife, Nancy, and Rev. Whitney Miller of Westlake, and one daughter, Gwin Cronin of Baton Rouge, LA, and 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Miller, 3 brothers: John Whitney Miller, Charles Edwin Miller and Merlin Eugene Miller, and one daughter, Charlotte Higginbotham. Mr. Miller requested that his body be donated to the Louisiana State University School of Medicine for teaching and research purposes. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in Lake Charles, LA. The Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton, Bishop of Lake Charles, and the Reverend Whitney Miller will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be contributed in Mr. Miller's name to the St. Louis Catholic High School "Opening Windows" Capital Campaign. He then moved to Okaloosa and Walton County in 1999. He was an Air Force veteran and served in the Korean conflict. Patsy Ruth Miller (LCAP) 6-13-04 LONGVILLE - Patsy Ruth Miller, 49, of Longville, died at 5:07 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2004, in her residence. She was a native of Jennings and had lived in Longville for the past two years. She was a loving mother and grand mother. Survivors include her husband, Julian Lee "Butch" Miller of Longville; four daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Richard Loy of Orange, Texas, Anna and Fuzz Pierce of DeQuincy, Hope and David Jones of Longville and Roxanne "Sandy" and Chris Stevison of Vinton; four brothers, David Miller of Lake Charles, Adam Miller of LeBleu Settlement and Jeffery and Eddie Miller, both of Iowa; four sisters, Lavonia Newman of Lebleu Settlement, Mary Landry of Sulphur, Amanda Carpenter of Lake Charles and Dorothy Manuel of Moss Bluff; and 15 grandchildren. Monceaux, 70, of Lake Charles died at 12:55 AM, Saturday, December 18, 2004 at the Guardian House. He was born in Welsh and lived in Lake Charles for over sixty years. Mr. Monceaux was a painting contractor and Real Estate Developer. He was a member of Painter?s Local #783 and also was a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Rogers Monceaux of Lake Charles; two daughters, Donna Monceaux of Smyrna, GA, and Freda Monceaux of Lake Charles; one son, Kenneth Raymond Monceaux of Lake Charles; one sister JoAnn Dronnett of Lake Charles and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2004 from St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church. Reverend Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM on Sunday in the funeral home. Ray Lowell MOORE Jr JENNINGS — Funeral services for Ray Lowell MOORE Jr., 57, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Jennings United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dick Scott-Welch will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today; and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, when the body will be brought to the church for the services. Mr. MOORE died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Jennings and had lived in Welsh before moving back to Jennings two years ago. He was a graduate of the 1964 class of Jennings High School. He received his bachelor's of science degree from USL, now ULL. He was a rice farmer. He was a member of Jennings United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Bryant Bennett of Houston; one son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Michelle MOORE of Lafayette; two sisters, Nancy Crandall and her husband, George, of Wichita, Kan., and Jeanie Cannon of Lafayette; one brother and sister-in- law, Richard "Ricky" and Donna MOORE of Roanoke; his companion and friend, Kay Ponder of Jennings; his stepmother, Mrs. Naomi MOORE of Lafayette; and five grandchildren, Austin Bennett, Mary-Kate Bennett, Alexis MOORE, Kaitlyn MOORE and Jacob MOORE. "Nooky" Moore, 68, died Oct 7, 2004, in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a 31-year resident of Lake Arthur, moving from Rayne. He served in the US Army. Narans (LCAP) 8-4-2004 Houston - Helen Louise Narans, 81, died July 31, 2004, in a local hospital. She was a native of Welsh, and she had been a resident of Houston for 20 years, moving from Lake Charles. Lee Mainer Nichols JENNINGS — Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Jennings United Methodist Church for Lee M. Nichols, 90, who died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, in Jennings American Legion Hospital. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites. The Rev. Dick Scott-Welch will be officiating. Mr. Nichols was born July 14, 1914 in Groveton, Texas and raised in DeRidder, La. He lived most of his adult life in Jennings. He worked for 35 years in the oilfield industry for City Service Pipeline. He was a Corporal in the 558th Aircraft Armament Group in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was awarded three medals and one badge. He served as the Jennings VFW Post Commander. He was very active in the community. He served as the chairman of the Cleanest City Committee in 1961, was a past Optimist Club President, was an Elks Club Lifetime Member, was a charter member of the Jennings Rod & Gun Club and served as its first president. He enjoyed playing the trombone and he was very artistic. He owned and operated Nichols Landing in Bundicks Lake. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Cole Nichols; two daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Genny Lynn) Cooper, of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. George (Karen) Ruhlen, of Santa Fe, N.M.; one son, Logan Lee Nichols and one daughterinlaw, Christine B. Nichols, of Jennings; six grandchildren, Darrell Lee Cooper, Charles Cooper and Michael Cooper, of Baton Rouge, Ashley Nichols Breaux, of St. Martinville, Lesley Nichols, of Jennings, and Lisa Ruhlen, of Wisconsin; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation was observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Matthews & Son Funeral Home and will continue from 10 a.m. today until time of service at Jennings United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Darrell Cooper, Charlie Cooper, Michael Cooper, Brannon Breaux, Moby Miller and Brad Legros.
