She was a native of Jennings and had lived in Lake Charles for over 15 years. She will be remembered as a very loving person who was a friend to all. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her father and step-mother, William N. Carter and June Carter of Jennings; fiance', Mark Fruge of Lake Charles; one son, Neil Sanders; one daughter, Hanna Fruge both of Lake Charles; devoted caregiver and loving friend, Roberta Benoit of Longville; and two sisters, Joan Gann of Springtown, TX, and Dawn Rodrigue of Lafayette. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, in Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Full obit in LCAP Dec 30, 2004 Column 6 Mark Duane Smith (LCAP) 6-25-04 LAKE ARTHUR - Mark Duane Smith, 42, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, in his residence surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born Jan.22, 1962, in Jennings. He was a resident of Lake Arthur. He shared his great love for sports with his daughter and the children of his many friends, whether it was practicing ball or just watching a game together. He touched many lives in many different ways and will always be remembered by his big smile, kind words and tremendous courage. Survivors include his daughter, Shay Talia Smith of Lake Arthur; his parents, Terry and Romona Navarre of Jennings; three brothers, Bill Naverre, David Navarre and his wife, Cheryl, and Clay Navarre and his wife, Trista, all of Welsh; three sisters, Julia Trahan and her husband, Neal, and Kim Guidry and her husband, Paul; both of Kaplan, and Lisa Mabini and her husband, Mike, of Welsh; nieces and nephews, Holly Guidry, Hunter and Alexa Trahan, Keaton and Cameron Mabini, Caleb, Alex, Jordon, Gavin, Gabe,Julian, Karlie, and Cole and Cale Navarre; great-nephew, Ian Guidry; and step-grandmother, Agnes Broussard. Burial will be at the Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Stanley died June 22, 2004, in the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. She was a native of Fenton and moved to Vinton in 1940 where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Henry G. Stanley, two sons, Floyd Stanley and wife Lena, Raymond Stanley and wife Betty, three daughters, Earline Reid and husband James, Yanita Mornic and husband David, Lydia Vice all of Vinton. Ethelwyn ST CLAIR Ethelwyn ST CLAIR, 90, died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, in a local care facility in the loving care of her caregiver, Anna Tekippe. She was born in Elton and was a graduate of Jennings High School. She lived in Beaumont, Texas, for many years before moving to Lake Charles several years ago. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society and South Park Baptist Church in Beaumont, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ray L. ST CLAIR of Lake Charles; two daughters and their spouses, Tootie Crain of Grand Lake and Marion Holder of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Leonard ST CLAIR, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1967. He was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 3015, Young at Heart, American Legion for 60 years, Lacassine Trail Riders Club, Cajun Caravan Campers and Sulphur CCOA. Mr. Stroderd was a veteran of the US Army and was a past member of the First Derrick Campers, Les Bon Ami Campers and the Bayou Sam Club. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Lane Manuel, Clint Stroderd, Clay Stroderd, Craig Stroderd, Stephen Stroderd, Blake Baccigalopi and Mark Baccigalopi. She was a native of Welsh presently residing in Lacassine Olivia Trahan (LCAP) 6-6-04 WELSH -- Olivia B. Trahan, 83, died Friday, June 4, 2004,, in a local nursing home. She was born and raised in Lake Arthur but lived in Welsh for most of her life. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City. While in that church, she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters, and she would often cook for the Legion of Mary. She is survived by her two sons, John Clyde Trahan Jr, and wife Bertha of Lake Arthur and Danny Lee Trahan and wife Barb of Welsh; three daughters; Mary D. Leger and husband Leroy of Carrolton, Texas, Gertrude Trahan Romero of Lake Charles and Kathleen T. Warren Tupper Sr. (LCAP) 5-31-04 WELSH -- Warren "Teetoo" Tupper Sr. passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2004, in his residence. Mr. Tupper was a native Of Jennings and a longtime resident of Welsh. During World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Hooper Island in the Pacific Theater. Upon completion of his military duty, Mr. Tupper returned to Welsh, where he sold farm machinery and pioneered the long grain bin industry in this region. In 1977, he was asked by Tiffany Industries in St. Louis, Mo., to travel to Nigeria as part of a team that taught Nigerians to become more self-sufficient as a farming community through building, maintaining and utilizing the latest in grain bin technology. Upon returning to the United States, he was employed by Abel & Sons of Welsh, where he worked until his retirement. Mr. Tupper is survived by his loving wife of 54 year, Peggy Robinson Tupper; five children, Dana Tupper Bebee and husband, Dwight, and Vicki Tupper Andres, all of Lake Charles, Wilfred "Woody" Tupper and wife, Connie, of Mowata, Warren Worth Tupper Jr. of Steamboat, Colo., and Dale Oren Tupper and wife Dau, of Bangkok Thailand; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert 0 Tupper of Purcell, Okla., and Roy "Tiny" Tupper of Thornwell. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, at 6 p.m. from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate.
