The Rev Jason Hartig will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Sunday. Mrs. Broussard die at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2004, in her residence. She was a native of Denison, Texas, and she had lived in Jennings for 58 years. She was a graduate of Denison High School, and she attended nursing school In Chicago for two years. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd J. Broussard Sr. of Jennings; two sons, Lloyd J. Broussard Jr. of Bell City and Dr. David M. Broussard of Dallas; one brother, Willie Bullock of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Broussard, who is survived by her son, Jeremy. Claude Joseph Blanchard (LCAP) 5-29-04 Jennings - Claude Joseph Blanchard, 74, died Friday, May 28, 2004, in the American Legion Hospital. A native of the Mermentau area, he moved to Welsh from Lake Arthur 51 yrs ago. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to take his children out to catch shrimp. Mr. Blanchard was a 1member of the American Legion post in Welsh. He served in the Army in the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Blanchard of Welsh; two sons Tommy Blanchard of Ragley and Johnny Blanchard of Basile; two daughters, Kathy Guidry of Welsh and Mary Palmer of Vinton, one sIster,Ida Bell Broussard of Lake Arthur; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church of Welsh. ReV. Herbert May will officiate. A committal service will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of HixSon Funeral Home. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today in the Welsh chapel,with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Dr. H.A. Hanley (LCAP) 5-30-04 JENNINGS - Dr. H.A. Hanley, 85, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, in Lafayette General Hospital. He was born on Sept. 8, 1918, in Church Point. He practiced optometry in Jennings for more than 50 years. He was a member of the American Optometric Association, the Louisiana State Association of Optometrists and the South­west Louisiana Optometric Society. He was past grand knight of Columbus Council 2012 and a fourth-degree member of Monsignor Joseph Peters General Assembly. He was an Air Force veteran of the Southwest Pacific theater of operations for four years, receiving the Purple Heart award for wounds received in action. He was a member of James 0. Hall American Legion Post 19, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3686 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Rayne, received his bachelor's degree with distinction from S L I., attended L.S.U. and taught high school for four years before volunteering for the service. He received his O.D. degree fom the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis in 1947, graduating with honors before coming to Jennings to practice. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Sigma Optometric honor society, the Jennings Kiwanis Club and past president charter member of the Jennings Optimist Club. Survivors include his wife, Judy Hanley of Jennings; three sons, Richard (Julie) Hanley of Baton Rouge, Dr. Mark (Dr. Kelly) Hanley of Arlington, Texas and Michael (Maria) Hanley of LaPlace; five daughters, John (Melinda) Guarino and Daniel (Sharon) Fuselier; all of Moss Bluff, Glenn (Sheila) Miller of Lafayette, Brian (Rebecea) Hamilton of Lake Charles and Nathan (Jean) Fontenot of Jennings; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by hIs parents, Frank H. and Corinne Lemoine Hanley; one sister, Irene Daigle; and two brothers, Hampton Hanley and Frank Hanley. His funeral will be at 11 a m Monday, May 31, from Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy and the Rev. T.L. Herlong will officiate. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mausoleum with full millitary rites under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today, May 30, and from 8 a.m. Monday. A rosary is 6:30 p.m. today by the fourth- degree Knights of Columbus, and a vigil is 7 p.m. by Deacon Ed McNally. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Robert LaFargue, Nathan Fontenot III, Shane Fontenot, Dusty Fontenot, Matt Slaydon, Jason Slaydon, Richard Hanley Jr. and Michael Hanley Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Beaugh, Dr. Lester Ancelet, Stanley Cresap, Bernard Marcantel, Charlie Swift, Bernan Theunissen, Dr. Robert Roy and Jerry Farradet. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Warren Tupper Sr. (LCAP) 5-31-04 WELSH -- Warren "Teetoo" Tupper Sr. passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2004, in his residence. Mr. Tupper was a native Of Jennings and a longtime resident of Welsh. During World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Hooper Island in the Pacific Theater. Upon completion of his military duty, Mr. Tupper returned to Welsh, where he sold farm machinery and pioneered the long grain bin industry in this region. In 1977, he was asked by Tiffany Industries in St. Louis, Mo., to travel to Nigeria as part of a team that taught Nigerians to become more self-sufficient as a farming community through building, maintaining and utilizing the latest in grain bin technology. Upon returning to the United States, he was employed by Abel & Sons of Welsh, where he worked until his retirement. Mr. Tupper is survived by his loving wife of 54 year, Peggy Robinson Tupper; five children, Dana Tupper Bebee and husband, Dwight, and Vicki Tupper Andres, all of Lake Charles, Wilfred "Woody" Tupper and wife, Connie, of Mowata, Warren Worth Tupper Jr. of Steamboat, Colo., and Dale Oren Tupper and wife Dau, of Bangkok Thailand; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Robert 0 Tupper of Purcell, Okla., and Roy "Tiny" Tupper of Thornwell. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, at 6 p.m. from Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Mr. Tupper donated his body to Tulane Medical Center. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home.
