Callahan Jr., 67, of Sulphur died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at 1 a.m. in Sulphur. Cremation will be under the direction of Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon St., Sulphur. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. He was a native of New Orleans and a former resident of Marksville and Welsh. He was a resident of Sulphur. He was a United States Marine Veteran. Mr. Callahan attended LSU and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from USL, now Louisiana-Lafayette, in education. He received his Master's Degree from Ole Miss. He retired from Welsh High School after many years in education. He was an avid trout fisherman, pool player and loved sailing. CHIASSON, Horace LCAP 07/15/05 Born November 19, 1917 Died July 14, 2005 Horace Chiasson, 87, of Lake Charles, died at 7:40 AM Thursday, July 14, 2005, in a Lake Charles hospital. Mr. Chiasson was born in Jennings and lived in Lake Charles for the past fifty-two years. He was an electrician and a member of I. B. E. W. Local #861. Mr. Chiasson was vice-president of Sonnier Electric Company for thirty- seven years before his retirement. He was a member of South City Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Istre Chiasson of Lake Charles, three sons, Bart Chiasson, Jack Chiasson, and Bob Chiasson all of Lake Charles; two daughters, Pam Hebert of Lafayette and Cheryl Peeler of Lake Charles. He was a welder by trade and worked for Maxim Water Well Service. He lived and experienced life in his own way. He was a person of honesty and truth. He loved his family in a very special way, and they accepted that love. A native of Lake Arthur, Gladys was a resident of Winnie for most of her life. For 44 years she was a nurse for Dr. W.C. Rollo, and after his retirement worked with his son, Dr. Robert Rollo. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School. He served the United States Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Enterprise during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Mr. Comeaux retired as an industry pipefitter for Local 106 after 35 years of service. He had currently been working for Delta Downs for the past four years. He was a dedicated sportsman, as he was an avid runner, biker and weight lifter. He was a Golden Gloves boxer having previously coached the South Lake Charles Optimist Club. Mr. Comeaux attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and St. Margaret Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4562. He will be greatly missed by many friends. A2 column 2 Alton Paul Cormier, 81, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in his residence. He was a native of Lake Arthur and had lived in Jennings for 33 years before moving to Lake Charles in 1993. He served his country as a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was a 1946 graduate of Lake Arthur High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Houston, where he received his bachelor’s in management. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 24 years as a district manager in Texas and Southwest Louisiana. He was also the owner of Cormier’s Apartments in Jennings for 33 years. He was a member of VFW Post 2130, Disabled Veterans of America and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and working on his farm. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cormier; son, Dr. Damon L. Cormier and wife Theresa "Tessie" of Lake Charles; two sisters, Althe Cormier Foreman of Texas and Venus Cormier Lacefield of New Orleans; and three grandchildren, Jeanne, Caleb and Sarah Cormier, all of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his half brother, Clarence Hebert. His funeral will be at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 18, in Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Ronald Groth will officiate. Cremation will follow. Visitation is from 10 a.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. CORMIER, Homer LCAP 08/13/05 JENNINGS — The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today, Aug. 12, 2005, from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Homer Cormier, 82, who died Wednesday, Aug. 10, in Jennings American Legion Hospital. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Jude Brunnert, M.S., will officiate. Mr. Cormier was a native and resident of Jennings. He was a graduate of Jennings High School and a World War II veteran. He was a retired toolpusher for Cactus International. Mr. Cormier and his wife, Irene, were married for 57 years. Survivors include his wife, Irene Cormier of Jennings; three daughters, Carol Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Welsh, Evelyn Kaye Lessard and her husband, Mallory, of Roanoke, and Marketihia Gary and her husband, Darryl, of Welsh; one sister, Lena Mae Connor of Hayes; seven grandsons, Brandon, Aaron and Kolby Johnson of Welsh, Damien Johnson of Lake Charles, Diondi Lessard of Carencro, Lance Lessard of Lafayette and Jarod Gary of Welsh; three granddaughters, Mandi Miller of Evangeline, Kasie Nix of Carlyss and Kami Carlin of LeBleu Settlement; nine great- grandchildren; and special nephew, Chris Cormier of Jennings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Evelyn Hanks Cormier; one brother, Dallas Cormier; and one granddaughter, Candi Johnson. The family has requested that visitation be from 8 a.m. today. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. He was a native of Jennings, and he lived in Welsh. Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Sylvia Cormier of Welsh; parents, Kirby and Evelyn Cormier of Pine Island; one son, Shane Cormier and wife Thelma of Pine Island; one brother, Kirby Cormier Jr. and wife Cherie of Lacassine; and two sisters, Elaine Granger and husband Paul of Pine Island and Edith Daigle and husband Russell of Welsh.
