She was a former catechism teacher and member of Ladies Altar Society. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. DARBONNE, Yeave Victor LCAP 11/04/2005 LAKE CHARLES — Yeave Victor Darbonne died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005, at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings on his 89th birthday. He was born Nov. 2, 1916, near Oberlin. He lived in Elton; Beaumont, Texas; and Jennings before moving to Lake Charles in 1964. He entered the Army in 1934 and served through World War II. He was in D-Day plus one and was wounded in Cherbourg, France. He served with the rank of sergeant (E7) and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He married Effie Ardoin on Dec. 22, 1940. He retired from Shell Oil Co. after 36 years. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy and her husband, Charles Gary, and Shirley and her husband, Floyd Manuel, all of Lake Charles; one son, Vic and his wife, Constance (Monlezun), of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Gary Tassin, Jodi Manuel Cormier, Lacy Manuel, Sarah Darbonne Green, Katherine Darbonne and Joseph Darbonne, all of Lake Charles, Chip Gary of McKinney, Texas, Greg Gary of Rock Hill, S.C., and Rachel Manuel of San Diego; five great- grandchildren, Logan Gary of McKinney and Katelyn Veillon and Joseph, Sophie and Christopher Tassin, all of Lake Charles; one sister, Evanna Harvey of Lake Charles; and 24 nieces and nephews. Lloyd Delome was born Aug. 13, 1947, in Welsh and was the firstborn child of Lloyd and Louise (Ogea) Delome Sr. Lloyd was a welder-fabricator and a selfemployed truck driver. He spoke French fluently and loved French (Cajun) music. He loved his many friends and enjoyed their company over the years. He was by nature a simple man and hard worker with material needs far from his scale of priorities. Instead, he chose in his later years to live his life with few complications and with honesty and Christian values — his top priorities. He gave respect freely and expected the same in return. Survivors include two sons, Christopher M. Bertrand and daughter-in-law Nicole Devillier Bertrand of Lake Charles and Aaron Doyle of Sulphur; one stepson, Marcus J. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 106 out of Lake Charles., and was a welder by trade. He was an evangelist with The Assembly of God.
