Mrs. Oliver was born in Ardoin Cove and had lived in Moss Bluff for five years. She lived most of her life in the Lacassine area. Mrs. Oliver was a 1952 graduate of Lacassine High School. She also was a graduate of Sowela Technical School with a degree in secretarial/professional administration. Mrs. Oliver was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Mothers Club. She loved to quilt, cook and crochet in her spare time. Survivors include her husband, Claude Oliver of Moss Bluff; four sons, James Anthony Oliver of Lake Charles, Thomas Merle Oliver of Jennings, Phillip Owen Oliver of Landmark, Texas, and Jeffrey Oliver of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mary Catherine Oliver of Moss Bluff, and Paula Sue Oliver of Austin, Texas; one sister, Elizabeth Landry of Vidor, Texas; one brother, Milton Ardoin of Westlake; and 11 grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, from St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Cemetery in Welsh, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is 3-10 p.m. today, with rosary at 6 p.m. and 8- 10:15 a.m. Friday, in the funeral home. ORTEGO, Vina LeFleur LCAP 05/08/05 Born November 1, 1918 Died May 7, 2005 Vina LeFleur Ortego Vina LaFleur Ortego, 86, of Ragley died at 5:38 AM Saturday May 07, 2005 in a Groves, TX nursing home. Mrs. Ortego was born and raised in Elton, Louisiana and lived most of her life in the Lake Charles, Moss Bluff and Ragley area. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley, LA. She was also a member of the VFW Post #2130 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Ortego loved to fish and garden and made many memories traveling with tour groups. She is survived by three sons, Harold J. Hebert of Moss Bluff, Leo A. Hebert of Ragley and Gregory J. Ortego of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Norma Hebert Grice of Groves, TX and Debbie Ortego Hampton of Moss Bluff; fifteen grandchildren; twenty- two great grandchildren; and one brother, Willie LaFleur of Elton, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cranford Ortego; one son, Don Jake Ortego; one granddaughter, Cindy Grice and grandsons, Stephen James Ortego and Jason Ortego. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Joe LaFleur, Arselus LaFleur, Amar LeFleur, Amos LaFleur, Eldridge LaFleur and Alee LaFleur and one sister, Mazie LaFleur Sonnier. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, May 9, 2005 from St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley, LA. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Elton, LA. Visitation Sunday will be from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 5:30 PM in the funeral home. Visitation Monday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
