A2 GILLIS — Cynthia Louise White, 47, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, in a Houston hospital. She was born in Lake Arthur and had lived most of her life in Gillis. She was a 1976 graduate of Sam Houston High School. She attended Sowela Technical School and became an LPN. She worked for Resthaven Nursing Home for three years. She loved her grandson and enjoyed swimming in her spare time. Survivors include her loving husband, Larry William White of Gillis; two daughters, Sabrina White and Samantha Cormier, both of Gillis; grandson, Hunter Kade Johnson of Gillis; father, Elroy Moore of Gillis; three brothers, Jimmy, Troy and Wilmer Moore; and five sisters, Kathleen Meche, Frances Livingston, Deborah Bieber, Ellen Credeur and Brittany LeJeune. Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, April 18, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. "Hawk" Wilkinson, 91, will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. The Rev. Dick Scott-Welch will officiate. Mr. Wilkinson’s body was cremated. He died Saturday, Jan. 15, in Christus-St. Patrick Hospital of Lake Charles. A native of Jennings, he graduated from Jennings High School and played for Coach Simmons on the school’s championship football team. He was a 50-year resident of the Moss Bluff-Lake Charles area. He served in the U.S. Cavalry and National Guard, retired after working as a welder for Cities Service after 35 years, and was a member of the Swinging Rebels Square Dance Club. He is survived by a brother, Kenneth C. Wilkinson of Lake Charles; three nephews, George Wilkinson, Marshall Brown and Kirk Brown; and four nieces, Mary Ellen Hawkins, May Dell Pisson, Shirley Collins and Carol Thomas. WILLIAMS, Leon LCAP 07/31/05 JENNINGS — Leon “Big Boy” Williams, 85, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005, in a local care facility. A native of Merryville, he had resided in Lake Charles and Westlake most of his life before moving to Webster, Texas, to be with his daughter. Since January he had resided in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings. He served two years in the CCC building roads, parks and doing reforestation projects before serving his country in the Army during World War II in the Burmese and Indian Theater. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8107 of Sulphur. He was a longtime boilermaker with Local 79, which consolidated with Local 37 in Slidell. He loved fishing and camping and spending time outdoors. Survivors include his daughter, Juana Gay Humphries and husband Mark of Webster, Texas; sons, Maj. Ronald Leon Williams, Air Force retired, and wife, Diane, of Lake Charles and Mark Jonathan Williams and wife, Ginny, of Webster; brother, Leonard Cassie “L.C.” Williams of Gonzales; sister, Ida Griffith of Houma; grandchildren, Kyle Humphries and wife, Stephanie, Lacey Humphries, Amber Humphries, Jonathan Williams, Travis Hathorn, Melissa Hathorn and Ronald Keith Williams; and great-grandson, Wyatt Humphries. His parents, Cassie B. and Cora Emma Sanders Williams; sisters, Thelma “Temp” Cantrell, Delma “Black” Carpenter and Velma “Doll” Harper; brother, Bill Williams; and two infant siblings preceded him in death. His funeral will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, in Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 4-9 p.m. Monday. WILRIDGE, Phillip LCAP 12/02/2005 Phillip Wilridge, 84, died Monday morning, Nov. 28, 2005, in a local hospital. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in St. Paul Baptist Church in Jennings. The Rev. Felton Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Saturday in the church. He was born in Branch and had lived in Jennings most of his life. Survivors include three daughters, Agnes Jones of Rayne, Lucille Jones of Jennings and Ella Marie Senegal of Carencro; three sons, Delta Joseph and the Rev. A2 column 5 SULPHUR — The funeral for Nedia Broussard Woods, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. She was a native of Lake Arthur and a resident of Sulphur for seven years, moving there from Lake Arthur. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society. She was the recipient of the 1994 Catholic Daughter Mother of the Year award. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. David E. (Martha) Kelley II of Sulphur; son, A.J. Woods and wife Patricia of Sulphur; sister, Marion B. Semar of Lake Arthur; three brothers, Albert and Reese Broussard, both of Lake Arthur, and Eldridge Broussard of Jennings; nine grandchildren, Christene Kelley Bourgeois and husband Ben, Mindy Kelley Darby and husband Phil, Lanie Kelley Landry and husband John, Dawn Kelley and Vicki Fontenot Dugas and husband Sam, all of Sulphur, Brent Kelley and wife Desiree’ of Hahnville, Kim Kelley Stoker and husband Scott of Natchitoches, Rebecca Fontenot of Nevada and Amy Fontenot of Mississippi; and 19 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jules F. and Amy Reese Broussard Sr.; husband, Walter Woods; three sisters; and five brothers. WYATT, Sparkle Rochelle LCAP May 8, 2005 Sparkle Rochelle Wyatt, 28, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, in Compton, Calif. She was a native of Jennings and had lived in California for a number of years. Survivors include her father, Robert E. Wyatt Sr. of San Diego; mother, Michelle (Franklin) Green of Jennings; son, Justin Keith Wyatt Bennett of Compton; brothers, Demetrius Wyatt and Robert Jr., both of Gardina, Calif.; sister, Robbin Beohourou of Gardina; maternal grandmother, Lenora Rhodes of San Diego; two nieces; one nephew; and a host of friends and family. Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. today, May 8, in Fondel Memorial Chapel in Jennings. The Rev. Franklin E. Fondel Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Health Catholic Cemetery.
