He was a native of Pine Island and was a resident of the Welsh area. He was a member of the Masonic lodge for 50 years and the Eastern Star; he was a Shriner. He was on the board of directors for the hospital and nursing home. Survivors include one daughter, Yvette Daigle LeBlanc and husband Chester of Welsh, and two sisters, Bernice Holland of Lake Charles and Minnie Sonnier of Welsh. He was a native of Thornwell and attended Lake Arthur High School and USL before graduating from the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1969. He served many citizens of Lafayette as their veterinarian at Doiron-Plauche Veterinarian Hospital, and as a civic leader since 1969. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marie Hoppe of Lafayette; married children/spouses and grandchildren, Dwayne and Shari Doiron and sons Marshall, Garrett and Carson of Katy, Texas; Kim and Kynan Fontenot and children Taylor, Madelyn and Evan of Baton Rouge; and Nannette and Brian St. Cyr and children, Victoria, Blake and Grant of Lafayette. He was born to Sam and Ethel Doland, one of Grand Chenier’s early cotton, cattle and farming pioneer families. After graduating from Grand Chenier High, Everett attended Vincent Business College in Lake Charles. He was employed for many years by Lake Charles Implement Co. on Ryan Street. He was given a commission to serve as colonel for Gov. Robert F. Kennon in 1953. He served as a staff sergeant in Company K in the Louisiana National Guard. He was one of the early founders of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lake Charles, where he served on the church council for many years. His family owned and operated Doland’s Catfish Farm in DeQuincy for a number of years. He retired as an electrician from Olin Chemical Co. He was a member of IBEW Local 861. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Catherine Jeanette Doland; daughters, Gretchen Says and husband Alcie, Sharon Armentor and husband Willard and Petrea Tilley and husband John; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Thomas Doland of Lake Charles. She was also a lay minister and a past commissioner of voters, and she sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Lake Arthur High School class of 1955 and was a member of the FBLA. She was a volunteer of many functions of St. Maria Goretti High School and was a school board member for many years. She worked at Our Lady of the Lake rectory for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club. She was a native of Evangeline and lived in Welsh. Survivors include her three sons, Jimmy Dyke, Charlie Dyke and Paul Dyke, and three daughters, Cathy Richard, Betty Baker and Sandra Langley. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madise and Ellia Crader; her husband, Cliff Joseph Dyke; one sister; four brothers; and four grandsons. Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. Brother Leo Fontenot will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Thursday.
