Jr. LCAP 07/28/2006 LAKE ARTHUR — The funeral for Mr. Joseph E. Flash Jr., 93, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, in the First Baptist Church with Dr. David Savage officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be in the Lakeview Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be 4:30-10 p.m., today and 8-10 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church. Mr. Flash died at 8:33 a.m. Monday, July 17, at his residence in Lake Arthur. A native of Crowley, he was a graduate of the Gueydan High School and a graduate of LSU-Baton Rouge. He was a Lake Arthur resident for many years. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and received the Silver Star. He was a former Boy Scout leader and retired plant chemist for Conoco with 38 years of service. He was member of the Bayou Chicot Masonic Lodge and a member of First Baptist Church, Lake Arthur where he was a former Sunday school teacher and deacon. Survivors include his daughter, Adele Suzanne Flash Wardman of San Clemente, Calif.; son, Robert Brent Flash of Lake Charles; one sister, Earline F. Cormier of Gueydan; brother, Mark R. Flash of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Mable Abbott Flash; his wife, Adele Marie Laurents Flash, who he was married to for 67 years; one son, Joseph Earl Flash III; and two brothers, Percy Flash and Myron A. Mrs. Foley was born on July 22, 1922, in Garyville and moved to Jennings in 1934. She was a retired bank teller with Jeff Davis Bank and American Bank. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence E. Foley Sr. of Jennings; one son, Lawrence E. Foley Jr. and his wife, Genée Hine Foley, of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Cara Foley Chance and her husband, Lance, of Carencro, Lauren Lee Foley of Jennings, Brian Foley and his wife, Elizabeth Gunn Foley, of Galveston, Texas, Capt. Edward Brunnert FONTENOT, Calvin “Cal” LCAP 03/30/2006 WELSH — Calvin Joseph “Cal” Fontenot, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in a local nursing home. He was a native of Welsh. Calvin “Cal” loved fishing, hunting, camping, amateur radio, computers and genealogy and was a representative for Gerber Baby Food for more than 30 years. He was a lover of all music, his wife and family. He was a gentleman, one of a kind and loved by all. Survivors include his loving wife, Joy Fontenot of Welsh; son, Harry Joseph Fontenot; three stepsons, James Patrick Deshotel, Gilbert Ray Deshotel and Steven Paul Deshotel; two granddaughters, Katherine Nicole Fontenot and Kelly Rene Fontenot; eight stepgrandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. FONTENOT, Curtis LCAP 08/31/2006 KINDER — The funeral Mass for Mr. Curtis Fontenot, 73, of Elton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church of Oberlin. The Rev. Michael Barras will officiate. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery in Oberlin under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home of Kinder. Visitation is 11 a.m-10 p.m. today in the funeral home, with a 6:30 p.m. rosary, and from 8 a.m. Friday. Mr. Fontenot was a resident of Oberlin and Elton and a member of Knight of Columbus. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He passed away at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, in his residence. FONTENOT, Hubert LCAP 07/25/2006 JENNINGS — Services will be at 2 p.m. today, July 25, in Matthews and Son Funeral Home for Hubert Fontenot, 85, who died Sunday, July 23, 2006, in Jennings American Legion Hospital. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military rites. The Rev. Jude Brunnert will conduct the service. Mr. Fontenot was born in Evangeline in 1921 and was a resident of Jennings. He served in the Navy in World War II and served in Pearl Harbor, assigned to a Seabees construction batallion. He was an automobile mechanic, retiring from Oustalet Ford after 46 years of service. He became a Jennings volunteer firefighter in 1954. For 51 years he served the Fire Department and was still a volunteer up until his death. In 1945, he married Mildred Bergeaux of Jennings; she preceded him in death in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Darrell Fontenot and wife Katy of Lake Charles and Glenn J. Fontenot of Jennings; two daughters, Beverly Scoggin and husband Paul of Jennings and Judy Dupuis and husband Mike of Jennings; one brother, Voris Fontenot of Kentucky; three grandchildren, Dana Richard of Jennings and Brian and Kelly Fontenot of Lake Charles; and two greatgrandchildren, Kassidy and Keagen Richard of Jennings. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Bergeaux Fontenot. A lifelong resident of Jennings, he was a merchant marine and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired electrician and a member of Faith Tabernacle in Jennings. Fontenot, 75, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in a local hospital. She was a native of Ardoin Cove and lived in Hayes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hayes. She had resided in Welsh since 1968. She was a member of the Baptist church in Welsh. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Ruth received her B.A. Degree from Louisiana Tech in 1939. She Married Woodrow Wilson Fox in December 1940. She taught school at Lacassine High for 37 years. She was a resident of Iowa, La., for many years. She loved gardening and cooking for her family. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church. Her husband of 53 years, Woodrow Fox, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Hester and Charley Hammons; brothers, Glay and Willard Hammons; sisters, Hazle Rogillio and Maude Lee Slagle; half brother, Charles F. Hammons; stepbrother, Alvis Shelby and stepsister, Eloise Simpson. FRUGE, Gale LCAP 2006 Oct 18 Gale Landry Fruge, 54, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, in a local hospital. She was a native of Elton, and she had lived in Sulphur for nine years, coming from Omaha, Neb. Gale enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family, friends and her pets. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. FUSELIER, Jessie Faye American Press 2006 Dec 14 ELTON — The funeral for Ms. Jessie Faye Fuselier, 68, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in Ardoin Funeral Home of Elton. The Rev. Jake Crowell will officiate. Burial will be in China Cemetery, Visitation continues today. Ms. Fuselier was a resident of Elton. She died Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Jennings. FUSELIER, Ruby Myrl LCAP 06/29/2006 The funeral for Ruby Myrl Fuselier, 82, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2006, at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Ruby went home to be with her savior on Tuesday, June 27. She was born September 13, 1923, in Lacassine and lived in Lake Charles most of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Lake Charles High School and worked in the payroll department at Matheson Chemical until her marriage to her beloved husband, Claude Joseph Fuselier, on November 28, 1948. For the last two years, she lived near her daughter in Ragley. She was much-loved by her family and friends and was an inspiration to those who knew her well. She enjoyed music, gardening, hard work, and her family. She was a long-time member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn Rene Bowman and husband, Ray, of Ragley; her son, Claude Daryl Fuselier and wife, Yvonne, of Lake Charles; and her brother, Norman Hornsby and wife, Emma, of Lake Charles. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ophney and Leona Hornsby; her husband, Claude Joseph Fuselier; and her grandson, Joseph Aaron Fuselier. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.
