LCAP 2006 Dec 06 LAKE ARTHUR — Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Lake Arthur for Julian George Zaunbrecher, 74, who died Monday, Dec. 4, at Jennings American Legion Hospital. Interment will be in Thornwell Cemetery. The Rev. Clyde Thomas will conduct the service. Mr. Zaunbrecher was a native of the Gueydan/Lake Arthur area and a resident of the Lake Arthur/Thornwell area. He was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus and a past Grand Knight for the Gueydan and Lake Arthur chapters. He also served on the board of the Thornwell Warehouse for many years and was still a member. He also was a past member of the Jefferson Davis Drainage Board. Survivors include two sons, Zachary Zaunbrecher and wife Cathy of Lake Arthur; Gregory Zaunbrecher of Lake Arthur; one daughter, Priscilla Hanks and husband Lionel of Lake Arthur; six brothers, Phillip Zaunbrecher of Hayes, Fred Zaunbrecher of Gueydan, Richard Zaunbrecher of Gueydan, Charles Zaunbrecher of Gueydan, Ronald Zaunbrecher of Lake Arthur and William Zaunbrecher of Gueydan; one sister, Dorothy Toups of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Leah Broussard, Jene Hanks, Lauren Hanks, Shannon Zaunbrecher and husband Jeremy Harris, and Scott McCord. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura B. Zaunbrecher; two grandchildren, Zachary Zaunbrecher Jr. and Megan Hanks; one brother, Wilfred Zaunbrecher; and a sister, Mary LeBlanc. The family has requested that visitation begin from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday and continue from 8 a.m. until the time of service Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, recited by the Knights of Columbus followed by the Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jene Hanks, Jeremy Harris, Joseph LeBlanc, Jude Zaunbrecher, Mark Zaunbrecher and Matthew Zaunbrecher. Honorary pallbearers will be Damian Zaunbrecher, Martin Zaunbrecher, Ronny Dale Zaunbrecher and Jacob Toups. Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.
