Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., today, Friday; and 8:00 a.m., Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. today, Friday in the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Chapman died at 12:09 a.m., January 9, 2009 at her home in Lake Arthur. Mrs. Chapman was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and a homemaker. She was a graduate of the Lake Arthur High School Class of 1942. Mrs. Chapman was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, VFW Ladies Auxillary and the Extension Homemakers Club. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Chapman Oustalet and husband Richard of Jennings and Rebecca J. Chapman of Lake Arthur; two sons, Edward Dan Chapman and wife Kim of Sulphur and Ben Ellender Chapman and wife Monica of Lake Arthur; one sister, Mildred Ellender Lyons of Lake Charles, eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin E. and Alma Deshotels Ellender; her husband, Edward Clare "Bill" Chapman; one sister, Norma Jean "Snookie" Mayo; and two brothers, Tom and Sam Ellender. Pallbearers are Andy Chapman, Sam Chapman, Adam Rawls, Alex Chapman, Zack Bonin, and Craig Chapman. Mr. Comeaux died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 10:17 a.m. at the Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings. Mr. Comeaux was 70 years old, born to Percy and Winnie Roy Comeaux. He loved carpentry work, gardening and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Belle Comeaux of Lake Arthur; one son, Kevin Comeaux of Lake Arthur; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Raedonna) LaPoint of Lake Arthur and Mrs. Gary (Geneva) Guidry of Lake Arthur; his mother, Beatrice Comeaux; two sisters, Sandra McCauley of Lafayette and husband Ronnie and Brenda C. Iglehart of Las Vegas. He had 10 grandchildren, Glasha LaPointe, David Curtis Frey, Garrett Guidry, Krystle LaPoint, Genie Frey, Percy LaPoint, Gary Guidry Jr., Dakota Comeaux, Gavin Guidry and Jasmine Comeaux; and one great grandchild, Ethan LaPoint. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chad Comeaux; and one sister, Della McGee. Mrs. Courts passed away peacefully at the home of her niece, Ms. Leslie Sonnier, on Sunday, June 1, 2008. She celebrated her ninetieth birthday this past January 20th. At the age of 18, she married Mr. Wilbert "Tingo" Courts. They shared 65 wonderful years together before his passing in 2003. Aunt Doe was a lifetime native of Lake Arthur. Throughout her life, she managed Court's Department Store for 44 years and was a devoted parishioner to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. During this time, Ms. Nora was very active in the Catholic Daughters Association and the Ladies Alter Society. Although she did not bear any children of her own, she was a mother to many. She had a gift of endless compassion and love and she shared this with everyone around her. Her love of the Lord shined through her many actions. She could touch your heart with her kind words and sparkling smile. Aunt Doe will be dearly missed by her family and friends who were touched by her kindness and peaceful spirit. Mrs. Courts was proceeded in death by her husband, Wilbert "Tingo" Courts; three brothers and three sisters, Wilfred "Snook" Gary, Joseph "Curly" Gary, Roland "Choe" Gary, Lillian Boudoin, Mary Lou Hendrickson, and Esperee Gary. Survivors include her brother, Russell "Beaco" Gary of Lowery and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Duprie was called to his Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning from the Gueydan Memorial Guest House. Visitation was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan beginning on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd from 10:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and resumed on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at 8:00 a.m. until the time of his services. A rosary was recited by Sheryl Portie Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Duprie was laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Lovnia, in Andrus Cove Cemetery. Rudolph was born in Jennings, La. to the late Martin and Ida Guidry Duprie in October of 1931. He loved to cook and made it his life's work. Rudolph also enjoyed quilting and cleaning ducks & geese for area hunters. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his beloved son, Rodney Duprie and his wife Martha of Gueydan; son-in-law, Paul Broussard, Jr. of Morse; three sisters, Hazel Dupre of Houma, Alice Bergeaux of Jennings, & Fannie Brashear of Hayes; and his five beautiful grandchildren, Dotty, Rodney II, Jessie, Holly, and Chet; and six great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kendra, Emily, Ryliegh, Layne, and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ida Guidry Duprie; wife, Lovnia "Chet" Stutes Duprie; daughter, Ida Pearl Broussard; brother, Leroy Duprie; and sister, Leigh Simon.
