Clyde Thomas officiating. A rosary was recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Nella Cormier. Mrs. Guidry died May 5, 2008, Monday at 5:55 p.m. at the Jennings American Legion Hospital. She was born in Jennings to Ben, Sr. and Maria Roy Martin. Interment was in the Andrus Cove Cemetery. Mrs. Guidry was a homemaker. She loved crocheting, cooking, flowers and her vegetable garden and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, A.J. Guidry of Andrus Cove; three sons, Randol Guidry of Lake Arthur, Gary Guidry, Sr. and wife Geneva of Andrus Cove, and Chad Guidry of Deer Park, TX.; four daughters, Wanda Chaisson and husband Randy of Hathaway, Malinda Hurst and husband Robert of Jennings, Brenda O'Blanc and husband Jed, and Shyla Manuel and husband Jared, both of Lake Arthur; four brothers, Wilfred Martin, M.J. Martin, Ben Martin, all of Andrus Cove, and Donald Martin of Crowley; 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha LeGros; and a grandchild, Samatha Guidry. Pallbearers were Joshua and Joe Guidry, Aaron Hurst, Garrette Guidry, Alex O'Blanc and Cody Guidry. Honorary pallbearers were Gordan O'Blanc, Hunter Hurst, Gary Guidry, Jr., Gavin and Jacob Guidry, Mason O'Blanc, Hayden Manuel, Maverick Morvant and Ethan LaPointe. Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. **************************************************************** Mabel Crader Hebert: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Lake Arthur Sun-Times (LA) - October 10, 2009 Deceased Name: Mabel Crader Hebert Date of death: 07/09/2008 Age at death: 89 MABEL CRADER HEBERT JENNINGS--Funeral services for Mabel Crader Hebert, 89, were held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings with Father Anthony Fontenot officiating. Mrs. Hebert died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 6:05 p.m. at The Hampton at Spring Shadows in Houston, Texas. Interment was held in Andrus Cove Cemetery in Lake Arthur. She was born in Lake Arthur to Julien and Estelle Guidry Crader. She grew up in the French Quarter of New Orleans and attended St. Louis Cathedral Parochial School. She meet her loving husband, Clarence, of 60 years in Lake Arthur at the Lake Arthur Pharmacy where he worked. She was visiting relatives and came in looking for lipstick. After messing up his lipstick display and complaining about small town merchandise, he told her she could just go back where she came from. Instead of getting angry, they began dating! They lived in Jennings, New Orleans, Houston, finally settling in Pasadena, Texas for 22 years. After retiring, Clarence and Mabel moved back to Lake Arthur. Mabel loved having family over and cooking gumbo for any occasion. She had a beautiful garden which always included fig trees. Mrs. Hebert was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joseph "Frenchie" Armand; her husband, Clarence P. Hebert; and one sister, Doris McCarthy. Survivors include two sons, Paul Robert Hebert of Houston, Texas and Michael Charles Hebert of Houston; two daughters, Brenda Butcher of Houston and Kathryn Green (Wesley) of Pampa, TX; six grandchildren, Mary Ann Henderson (Steve), Bridget Todd (Toby), John Butcher, Stephen Green (Kellee), Stephanie Clinton (Adam) and Gilley Hebert; and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Butcher, Stephen Green, Michael Hebert, Paul Hebert, Steve Henderson, and Andre McCarthy. Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Green, Ronald McCarthy, Wilson Duhon, and Edward Trahan. Mrs. Herpin was called to her Heavenly Father early Thursday morning from the Crowley Rehabilitation Hospital. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Friday, Nov. 6th from 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Saturday, Nov. 7th at 8:00 AM until the time of her services. A rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 PM. Mrs. Herpin will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Harrison, in the Istre Cemetery. Ethel was born in Morse, La to the late Eugene and Alfonson Stelly Hargrave in the spring of 1925. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family andfriends brought a great deal of joy to her life. Ethel enjoyed playing bingo and making quilts. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Leaving behind to cherish her memory is her beloved children, Adlas (Judy) Herpin of Evangeline, Floyd (Mary) Herpin of Gueydan, Dennis (Jan) Herpin of Mire, Dorothy (Gene) LeBlanc of Welsh, Etheline "Lynn" Prejean (companion), Francis Grado) of Crowley, and Bernell (Wayne) Lemaire of Kaplan; and her 23 beautiful grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, Eugene & Alfonson Stelly Hargrave; husband, Harrison Herpin; & one son, Russell Herpin. Carrying Mrs. Herpin to her final resting place will be Shawn, Aaron, Mark, and Cartna Herpin, and Tyler Lege. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her great grandchildren.
