Trahan Date of death: 01/16/2008 Date of birth: 01/15/1925 Age at death: 83 TRAHAN LAKE ARTHUR- Funeral services for Mr. Cheris J. Trahan, 83, were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Reverend Clyde Thomas officiating. Mr. Trahan was born January 15, 1925 in Morse, La. and passed away January 16, 2008 at his residence in Lafayette. Mr. Trahan married Gene Marceaux February 26, 1946. Cheris worked for Gulf States for 18 years then moved to Lafayette to open a convenience store and to go into business for himself. He was a native of Morse and a resident of Lafayette for 40 years since moving there from Lake Arthur. Mr. Trahan was known to his family as their beloved "Pa". Mr. Trahan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was the care-giver for all the family, always patient, understanding and kind to others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Trahan was a Lake Arthur High School graduate, Class of 1942. Mr. Trahan served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class. He was the recipient of the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon-1 star and the Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the VFW in Lafayette and a member of the Jean LaFitte Pirates RV Club from 1994 to 2008. Mr. Trahan loved smoking cigars, fishing, playing with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, gardening, camping and working in his yard. The family would like to extend special thanks to Maria Olivier, our own family Hospice nurse; Carrie Gaudin and Ms. Rose from hospice; all his caregivers, and friends who stood by him until the end. The family gives thanks to Louisiana Honor Air for the trip to Washington in October 2007. He was happy to have gone on this wonderful trip and was so appreciative for the time and effort given by the volunteers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Doralis Royer Trahan; one sister, Evelyn LaPoint; and one brother, Dale Trahan. TRAHAN LAKE ARTHUR- Funeral services for Mr. Donald Reed "Case" Trahan, 75, were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with the Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Mr. Trahan died at 11:54 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. He was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and a graduate of the Lake Arthur High School. He was a retired Lake Arthur bar owner for 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served on the Lake Arthur Fire Department, City Council, and Chamber of Commerce. He loved his family and loved to hunt, fish and cook. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Mrs. Wilda Lanthier Trahan of Lake Arthur; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Julie) LaCombe of Evangeline, Mrs. Ronald (Colette) Manuel of Lake Arthur, and Mrs. Marlon (Camala) Hebert of Lake Arthur; two sons, Kevin Reed Trahan and friend Vicki Ryder of Lake Arthur and Tony Trahan and wife Monica of Lake Arthur; one sister, Wanda Oliver of Lake Arthur; one brother, Carroll Trahan of Lake Arthur; his mother-in-law, Naomi Lanthier of Lake Arthur; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Cormier, Jared Manuel, Joshua Trahan, Ashlyn Reed, Nicholas LaCombe, Robbie Trahan, Brittany Simon and Lindsey LaCombe; and six great grandchildren, Madison Cormier, Maggie Cormier, Casey Cormier, Cohen Cormier, Hayden Manuel and Kandon Simon. Mr. Trahan died May 14, 2008 at 8:08 p.m. at University Medical Center in Lafayette. He was the son of Willie and Fannie Broussard Trahan, born in Hayes. A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. with Nella Cormier. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Trahan was a retired driller in the oil field. He loved to do woodwork and visit friends. Survivors include his mother, Fannie Broussard Trahan of Crowley; one son, Rayford Trahan of Welsh; three brothers, Nelson Trahan of Hayes, Roger Trahan of Hayes, and Kenneth Trahan of Estherwood; five sisters, Wanda Bouley of Gueydan, Myrtle LeBlanc of Georgewest, TX., Virginia Connor of Lake Charles, Judy Labbie of Hayes and Louella Stripling of Pearland, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Stephen Trahan; his wife, Patsy M. Trahan; and one brother, Richard Trahan.
