G. BARTELS DIED AT HIS HOME IN JENNINGS, SUNDAY Adolph George Bartels, 54 died Sunday morning at 11 15 at his home on East Academy Avenue. Mr. Bartels had been ill for three weeks, his condition having been so serious the past eight days that death was expected at any time. Uniting with the Baptist church ten years ago, the deceased has been a loyal, consecrated member of that congregation. Affable and friendly he was liked by everyone, being highly esteemed as a citizen and greatly admired as an ideal family man. He has a host of friends who are deeply grieved at his untimely passing. Funeral services were held Monday morning at ten o'clock at the Baptist church, Reverend N. B. Wallace officiating. Basing his message on the 37th verse of the 37th Psalm, "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace," Rev. Wallace amplified the thought with readings from the 15th chapter of First Corinthians, these beautiful verses including the triumphant statement, "0 death, where is thy sting? 0, grave where is thy victory-" The speaker outlined the ways in which man is made perfect, reading freely from the Scriptures as to what makes perfection, the three main topics being: Perfection through faith in Christ as Savior and Lord; Perfection through obedience, and Perfection through the Resurrection. A quartet consisting of Mr. and Mrs. B. N. Wallace, Mrs. R. F. Frey and Mr. W. P. Arnette sang the hymns, "Beautiful River," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus " and "Asleep in Jesus." Mrs. S. L.
