All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ************************************************** The Jennings Daily News Jennings Louisiana January 19, 1959 Welsh Pioneer Resident Dies Jennings, La. - Mrs. Lena Benoit of Welsh, sister of Felix Arceneaux and Mrs. Isaac Fontenot of Jennings, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's hospital in Lake Charles. Mrs. Benoit, 67, was a member of a pioneer Welsh family and had lived in Welsh all her life. She was the widow of Asa J. Benoit, Welsh restaurant owner who died 16 years ago. The body was at Hixson Funeral home until time for the services, held at 9 a.m. this morning at the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Surviving besides the Jennings residents are two brothers, Robert Arceneaux of Lake Arthur and Dr. R.R. Arceneaux of Welsh; and four sisters, Mrs. Inez Barnes and Mrs. Garland Hayes of Lake Charles, Miss Rena Arceneaux of Welsh and Mrs. Lydia Unkel of Oklahoma City, Okla.
