Jeffers conducting the services. Interment was made in the Welsh Cemetery. Mrs. Hackworth was formerly a resident of this place, but had moved with her son-in-law, S.A. Winterton and family, to California, a few years ago, where she resided until about two months ago, when she returned to Louisiana, and has since been residing at Newellton, where Mr. Winterton is now in charge of a large rice plantation. It had long been the desire of the deceased to be buried in Welsh by the side of her departed husband, who was buried here some eight years ago. Deceased was over eighty years old, having long out-lived the years usually alloted to man. She was the mother of ten children, and is survived by three sons, J.W. Hackworth of Newellton, Louisiana, C.H. Hackworth of Magnolia, Arkansas, I.T. Hackworth of Welsh, and two daughters, Mrs. S.A. Winterton of Newellton, and Mrs. Towler of California, as well as thirteen grandchildren. Genealogical Notes: Mrs. Rebecca Hackworth was the former Rebecca Michael, who was born Feb. 01, 1830 in the state of Illinois. She was the daughter of Philip Michael and Louvicy Hall. She married Matthew Hackworth (son of William Hackworth and Elizabeth "Betsy" Morton Hackworth) on Dec. 26, 1850 in Green County, Wisconsin. Matthew Hackworth was born April 6, 1929 in Vermilion County, lliniois. In later life, they resided in Marthaville, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, where Matthew Hackworth died on November 21, 1902. He was buried in the Welsh Cemetery. Research has shown that a section of 14 spaces was bought by a Mr. Charles Hackworth years ago in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh in the old section, and has at least one identified Hackworth grave, with several unmarked graves. (Research done by: Ethel Fontenot Sacker of Kinder, Louisiana). Notes furnished by Patricia Ryan White of Camarillo, CA, a descendant of the Hackworth family.
